i used to live in Conway worked in M.B.
but that was 91-97
didnt even think about scoots then. lmsao
i am always planning on moving south again. just dont know where or when
i do remember one winter day
must have got a WHOLE inch of snow and they closed the whole city for a day
i'm driving around looking at people in ditches, off the roads etc etc LMSAO ,
wanted to buy salt, for my rest. , to keep walks clean and safe COULDN'T find it anywhere.
yea M.B. might be a nice place to move to again but just in the time i was there it changed 100%. from quite family type resort to well heck dont even know now
good luck down there. i'd give u names and such or locals but heck its been so long they might not b there anymore

we lived in calabash for 6 years with our beach wedding business (www.carolinaromanticweddings.com), but my wife wanted to come back to RI to spend time with the grandkids... i was looking at the MB bike week website today, and thought... we should have a MB scooter week! and that led to thinking about getting a club going...

ohboth bike weeks were boons to my biz.
not sure how many people came for both, but we did 25% of our biz in those 2 weeks.
actually, my waitress's loved black biker week. as they called it then--im sure thats not P.C. now
instead of the normal $100 or so that they normal make in a day they'd take home $300 +
i hated it, because then they made more than me
i used to roller blade up and down the main streets all the time. most of the "locals' bars/clubs would let me skate in have a beer or 2 and skate back out. i guess it's cause i was a LOCAL
even the police got to know me really well
the ONLY bad thing about there is....... everyone is on vacation, and u r working. meet some great people and they wanna party all night and ' well u gotta go home cause u work the next day"

i sorta wish i was there again.
know the area very well
know where the tourists dont go all the side roads, dont think i'd wanna go down {was it Rt. 41 ? } from conway to MB ? unless it was backed up.
the only bad thing about east coast is { to me}.... is u dont get to see the sun go down over the ocean i watched MANY suns come up, i was there during hugho, bertha, etc

sunset beach in NC is great for sunsets, esp in the winter months! the beach faces south, so a sunrise at one end, and a sunset at the other!

Hey there y'all, I just bought a scooter, and live in Surfside.i originally moved to the beach in 93, left in 97 and moved back in 06. I had a bike when I moved here, and sold it because it was too dangerous to ride around here, yet I ended up buying a 50cc taotao. I have been having fun riding around down south. Well look forward to getting to know some local scooterists!

wow, sounds like me! i sold my harley because after every ride, i felt lucky to arrive back home alive! we lived in calabash for 6 years and moved to RI for a year, and now returning to surfside beach the 2nd of march. i have a genuine buddy 170. i sold my yamaha vino 50 to get a bit more ability to keep up with traffic (and to get out of it's way!). let's keep in touch! don

We enjoy this area, It is a day closer to Chi and St Lois than Orlando and the Cape. A bit more than a day closer than Miami. It also is a let less expensive than either. Much more midwest graciouseness without quiet the abrasiveness I seen to run in to with the NY croud. But it is humid. If we can be of help, let us know. Cheers.

Well howdy to all y'all! I have noticed that the Myrtle Beach area as a whole has a larger scooter population than anywhere else I have ever been. This city makes it pretty easy to get around on a 50cc machine, 17business and later 17 is all 45mph from murrells inlet up to close to the north Carolina border, that and the ability for someone who has lost their license to DUI to be able to still ride a scooter mixed with our warm climate, and when I moved back here I couldn't believe the amount of scooters that were here! Most people assume that if you are riding a 50cc moped that you don't have a license as well. It's kinda hard to get a group of scooter people together here because most of them are doing it out of necessity as opposed to joy.

I just relocated to Myrtle Beach, for my wife's teaching position, and just bought a PCC Angel 50cc, to ride around my golf club, but have recently ventured out onto the insane roads of MB. Wow the drivers here are ridiculously rude. I am looking to start or join a scooter group. Attachments:
