Mike Hi Mike Thanks for the thoughts, i always do normally lock her with both armored cable and disc lock with alarm, this time i just wasnt thinking and just one time was all it took and it happened very quickly I cant urge people enough to always lock them very well when unattended no matter the time you will be away If someone wants something they will find a way, hopefully the locks deter them long enough for yourself or someone else to intervene and stop them before they make off with the vehicle Take care and drive safely dear friend Yours Hank

Oh, Hank! I am so sorry to hear this!!!!!!
Just terrible! I never imagined I'd be hearing this from you.
Your beautiful Puma, likely be trashed by some punk or ghetto-banger. Oh, this makes me mad!!!!
...and she was such a good scooter....
As for getting another one, have you checked out the Keeway yet? I was looking (online) at them before i bought my Tao Tao...... I thought they seemed pretty nice.

Sad to see that. I have had 3 stolen...and one motorcycle. One new scoot was stolen by truck(lift and load) the steering was locked and front wheel chained through the rim and around the fork tubes....right in front of my shop....where I repair and sell them. SAW them do it....identified the truck. Cops told me...they don't look for stolen vehicles....they just call if it is found along the road....or paperwork does not match up during a routine stop. State Cop even told me...."basically sir....if it's gone..it's gone...don't get your hopes up"... It appears the age old addage "Sworn to serve and protect" has become.."Serve and collect" Doing an investigation costs them money....writing a ticket for minor infractions brings them revenue. This was even told to me by a deer hunting buddy(Retired Michigan State Trooper).... One day I saw it at the grocery store...my girlfriend came over with the MCO since it was new and we still had it as well as the keys! We matched the VIN....called the Police...they never showed....and we have 6 'on duty' officers during the day. Called them back and said I was just gonna take it...cause I knew where the guy lived. When I got there I saw it...but he had his land is posted...and was told by doing so....I would be violating the guys "No Trespassing' signs on his property. 6 months later folks see the guy still riding it. Sad...but this is what our world has become brother.... So if you want their attention...go 5 over the limit...or roll through a stop sign.... Nothing more I hate...than a thief...grrrr....

Sunday went I went to bbq I had the scoot parked in front of the grill with the front wheel locked.
Too lazy to go get the key I just moved it by hand, and was surprised how easy these things are to navigate that way.
Best wishes Hank, wooddogg.

Cops as alert as the thieves would be nice too.
My father once got his car stolen just running into a convenience store. He came out and the car was missing, so he called the police. The dispatcher informed him that they had his car in custody... and the guy who stole it! Only a couple blocks down the road. Apparently there was a cop right across the street that watched the whole thing happen, and was after the car with backup before my father picked up the want-ad.
That was in Sanford, ME.
---
While I have yet to do this, I think GPS tracking is the way to go. Sorry yours was thwarted, right idea, just wrong location. I'd install a dedicated unmarked box somewhere under the plastic. A thief wouldn't know what it was or hopefully even find it before it was too late.

Hank. I too am sorry. No, it is not your fault. perhaps it is the politicians who have forgotten all the poor people. But the bottom line, it is someone who stole it. You did not abanden it. Dam, It anyway. Thew question I now have is - what scoot would almost make youforget you lost this one? Perhaps a 150CC 2 stroke vespa? Hell of a scoot. Old fashioned but nearly bulletproof. D--, D--.!! I'd offer a hug if you had jugs - but I just will have to limit my offer to the first beer if the scoots remain parked. Cheers

Aw Hank, that just totally sux. And don't you DARE feel like it's even half your fault. It's all the fault of the ratstards who stole what wasn't theirs.
It's a sad world where people can't leave something for a few minutes without it being stolen.
You know, I've heard of tracking devices, they hide under the seat or underneath the frame. You can go online and locate them.
Post a CL ad alerting others of the theft. Someone here did, except he wasn't so concerned about regaining his bike, stated outright he was most interested in doing some butt-whumping on the thief/thieves. I always wondered if he got to.
Man Hank, that so bums me for you. I hope you find a new ride soon, or your old one not damaged.

Terrilee, I think the Great Spirit is always watching over Hank. Its the spirit in him. If I know Hank like I think I do (I have never met him) Its just a setback to which he will come out better in the end because of his attitude and outlook on life. Hank will always look for the good in anything and know it could always be worse and make the best out of any situation. Its my life lesson.

What happened with the TOMOS Hank? This boy remembers reading about the purchase of one but I don't recall any updates..... IMO I would go with the 2 stroke. Not many left to buy in the States and a 50cc is on par with your Puma Probably better.... I would think that 80cc 4t has other issues besides the owner getting bored. Possibly ready to be rebuilt again. (just speculation) Again I am sorry for your loss but, I applaud you for hanging around sans scoot. I do hope your still keeping an eye open for the Puma. It very well maybe just stashed close to your home when it ran out of gas. Hi That one fell through at least for the moment The dealer told me he has to wait for the 2012 models to arrive so it will happen after the new year He couldnt find me a 2011 I saw both the scoots the 4t is rough but runs well think i will pass on her The Geely is very nice and is still on my list Going to look at a few more and make my decision after christmas Take care and drive safley dear friend Yours Hank

Hey Hank, Sorry to hear about the Puma, that really sucks. Some people have no respect, and it really burns me that they would steal from a Veteran at that. I understand you're in CT, I was looking around and found this: A new leftover 09 Vino, for $2399. Maybe you could even get it cheaper. Don't know if the Vino made your short list anyway. It's located in RI. www.razeemotorcycle.com/show.asp?Bike=001366.jpgagain sorry for what happened, I've been lurking for a while and you seem like a really nice guy.
