Just bought a 2008 benxhou scooter. Guy said it was sitting for 2 years without being ran. The scooter Sometimes will start after a few cranks runs great top speed 33mph for about 20 to 30 seconds then dies. Will not start again for a few minutes**** Cleaned carb twice with no improvement. Amateur carb clean, jets, bowl...? Fuel flows strong when i suck on the vacuum line. The scooter will NOT idle. I have to hold quarter throttle. What else can i check for? Please help asap! Did i miss a important spot in the carb? Also, New battery, 500 miles on scooter

Check the valve lash, they might be closing up when they warm up causing lack of compression. Also if it has been sitting for a while get fresh gas in it as well, or at least fuel treatment. Don't forget to adjust A/F mixture and Idle screw to allow it to idle better. It could also be your enricher not working and staying open, so check that as well.

I still think its a fuel delivery problem. Because it takes a while to start. And i don't know what a valve lash is.

Float height could be wrong, so it only uses up what's in the float bowl and then can't refill in time.

Take the carb apart and check to see if the float needle is gummed up to the point of not moving

Adjust the valves if for no other reason than to eliminate valves as a source to your problems and go from there.

Put simply- unless someone has replaced the vacume controled fuel shut off, if you go tofull thottle you will not have any vacume to hold the throttle open and so you will run the carburator out in a a few seconds and she will slow down pretty fast. Try running at 1/2 throttle for a while. Cheers
