Hello! I'm a new member here. I just got my first scooter a couple weeks ago. It's a 2007 Lance GSR. It's been a love/hate relationship so far, mostly based on things done by the previous owner. Firstly, there are bushings on the left and right that hold the rear section of the suspension. One of those bolts had been replaced, but the thread pitch was wrong, so the bolt backed out, giving me a really "squirly" feeling from the rear end. I ended up having to run a longer bolt through and put a nut on the other end. It feels MUCH better now! And as you guys know, most of the body panels have to be removed in order to access those bolts. So I've gotten real intimate with this scooter already! Secondly, I noticed that only one of the headlights works. Upon closer inspection, I found that the right side is all melted and is missing the spring clamp for the bulb. Even if I bought a new bulb, it would touch the plastic housing, melt and burn out. I ended up having to order an entire brand new headlight assembly. Thirdly, the rear housing for the gauges is totally falling apart. The plastic literally breaks away if you touch it. I need to order an entire new gauges assembly. Ok, so there's the background...now here are my questions.... 1) I ordered the headlight assembly from scooterchromeparts.com about a week ago. I've had no emails from them since then. When I email them I only get generic auto-reply emails back. Has any of you dealt with them before? Should I be worried? 2) For the gauge cluster, the one that I currently have looks like this: (I borrowed this photo from another member here) I'm having trouble finding a site that sells that particular gauge cluster. I have , however, found a few sites that sells this one: www.scooterdynasty.com/instrumentpaneltype2for150ccgy6scooters.aspxThe overall shape looks to be the same. Are they interchangeable? Also, has anyone dealt with scooterdynasty.com? Thanks for your time guys!

Oh...I almost forgot to tell the most fun part, regarding the gauge cluster....
The fuel gauge does not work properly. The previous owner told me that on the "full" end, the needle does not stop at the F. It goes really far to the right when it's full. I asked her if the "empty" side of the fuel gauge was still accurate and she said yes.
Well, this morning on my way to work it was showing about half full, and the engine died. Out of gas. Yay! Had to call my girlfriend to come pick me up, buy a gas can, then fill up on the side of the road. [shakes head]

Nice scooter! as far as the speedometer clock i sell this one in the picture. the only thing is you need to verify the plug that its the same. also that link you posted on the other speedometer clock looks like it should work also just verify the plug. also on your headlights. thats weird that its blowing them out. make sure you use 18W or 35W max. nothing higher than that. it will melt the socket. i use 18W in mine and works great! The fuel gauges are often caused by the sender unit in the tank...the float may be leaking or the wire that runs through the sender circuit board could be binding...
The headlights blowing may be a problem with the rectifier regulator. If you get the new assembly and the bulbs are still causing problems then i would look at the voltage going to the headlights

I got some stuff from scooterchromeparts a while back...no problems. The blue gauges are what I have on mine, so they should work for you, also check ebay....I think I saw them there too. And WELCOME !

Thanks for all the quick replies dudes! scooterparts3: thanks for your input. Your gauges do look nice! Unfortunately, I'm in the US, and prefer to have the MPH in the larger font, rather than KPH. sprocket: Thanks for the information. I'll try the new gauges and headlight housing. If those don't fix the issues, then I'll move on to your suggestions. dragzilla: Good to hear that it went well with scooterchromeparts and that the blue gauges work.

great looking scoot. Just a note to offer some moral support. You've got good people helping you here.

Just so you know... the odometers are often in Kilometers no matter what is the speedometer says...claims of great gas mileage often are erroneous, due to this fact.
Best to verify what you have in the odometer with an exact measured mile...

That's good to know. I'll have to do some comparisons.
What makes that particularly interesting is that the DMV shows the number on my odometer as my official mileage...in miles. lol

Oh yeah...one more thing.... I meant to ask about the "phone" led on the stock gauge cluster. Is that supposed to blink when my phone rings?
As if I'm really going to answer my phone while I'm riding?! lmao

So I got received my new headlamp and gauge cluster. I picked up the headlamp from scooterchromeparts.com. Shipment was fast, and it came with all the light bulbs. They look very shiny and clear compared to my old, yellowed and melted lights. Here's a photo of the new headlamp installed: Here is my old gauge cluster. When the lights are on, you can really see how the light leaks out from behind since the gauge face sags down. From underneath, you can really see how the entire gauge housing is falling apart. And you can see how a previous owner literally stuffed rags up in there to try to hold the gauge cluster in place And another shot of the old gauges: Here is a comparison of the back sides of the old gauge cluster and the new one. Note that the wires from the back of the tachometer on the new gauges don't have the connector. I simply cut the connector from the old gauges and soldered it to the new one: And finally, here is the new gauge cluster installed: Also, in the last 2 photos, notice the placement of the lights. There are spots at the top for the 2 gauge bulbs, and bulbs for the turn signals and highbeam indicator. The new cluster also has this mysterious red lens, but I don't have a bulb to plug into it. Also, the new gauge has a spot for a light for the fuel gauge but, again, there is not bulb for it in the harness. I can probably splice in a bulb for that one though. Upon installation, I verified that the gauge lights and indicators work, as well as the highbeam indicator. It was raining here in SoCal today though, so I wasn't able to take it for a test ride to make sure the tach and speedo function properly.

The red lens indicates the brakes are pulled...
I would replace all those bulbs with LEDs and you should never have to touch the dash again...
ya, just splice in a new socket for the fuel gauge no big deal...

Interesting about the red bulb. The slowing down is usually a good indicator that the brakes are pulled. lol! Good idea with the LED's. I actually did that with my the gauge cluster in my car a while back. What size bulbs are typically used in these scooters? As for my new gauge cluster....I was able to go out for a ride today for the first time with the new gauges. When I started it up, the fuel gauge was reading empty. Wasn't sure if it was really empty, or if the gauge was faulty. I headed to the gas station and filled up. Upon firing it back up, the needle immediately jumped up to Full....then proceeded to bounce around at the Full end. Even when I was just sitting there, the needle bounced around. I found that when I was one the throttle, the needle bounced around near the Full end...and when I was braking, the needle would bounce around near the half full are. At rest, it was bouncing around the 3/4 full area. Do you guys think it's the gauge? Or are these symptoms of the problems that sprocket eluded to in an earlier post? (...sender unit in the tank...the float may be leaking or the wire that runs through the sender circuit board could be binding...)During my ride, another thing that I realized about the gauge is that the speedo only goes to 50mph! During my commute to work, I typically see 55-60mph speeds. Looks like I'll be staring at a speedo with a pegged needle from now on. Does anyone know where I can find an oem gauge cluster like the silver one that came with the scooter?

looks like the cluster you have is for a 50cc. my old gy6150 had that same cluster but it went to 80mph. you could always swap the guts out from the old one to the new one..... as far as the gas guage i bet its your float, most of the floats are a rubber substance that seems to fall apart over time due to the gas. mine had 200 miles on it when that happened. i simply pulled the sending unit and used half a wine bottle cork, sold the scoot 650 miles later and it was still working great.

See here for 194 501 T10 Inverted LED Wedge Bulbs near the bottom of the page. I use these guys and have had no problems the quality is excellent, but it takes 3 weeks to come from Hong Kong. The leds are polarized so if they don't light turn them 180 deg in the socket... www.wardenjp.com/stores/194.html
