on my storm 250 it has the honda clone 244cc motor, this is my 3rd intake manifold, the current one lasted for about 7months and it cracked yesterday on the top my 1 1/2 inch crack, i just used silicone and tire patch material too hold it over until i get my new manifold from scrappydog i removed the POS snorkel and emmissions box so i just have a uni on the end and rejetted to a 125 Mainjet. i also noticed that the carb moves quite a bit and kinda chokes a little when im going over bumps, if i make a support bracket from the carb to the frame will this minimize the carb slosh/choking when riding over bumps / cracking another manifold? also is it just me or did any of you guys had to sand the actual bore of a new intake manifold so you can insert the carbs intake port correctly, its like to tight to push in with a new manifold

Well you want it to be tight to help prevent air leaks.
Several dawgs have made mounts for their carbs to relieve the stress. D-cat comes to mind. Basically, just rig up anything that is stiff and can attach from the carb to the frame. I'm sure that even wire from a coat hanger would work. You want it to be able to vibrate a bit but not move too far from it's normal position. I think just taking the heavy gauge wire, wrapping it around the intake venturi side of the carb and then attaching it to the frame on both sides will keep it fairly secure and not cost a cent if you have a cheap wire hanger. Use the bare metal ones so that the paint won't flake off and get everywhere.

One problem with attaching it to the frame is the motor has to pivot up and down as you go over bumps so attaching the carb to the frame will most likely make your problem worse. The CF Moto 250s have a bracket which comes off of the valve cover that the carb attaches to which takes pressure off the intake. You should look into one of those, it should bolt right up.

Honda eventually added them to the Helix. You might want to check on the later model ones or make one.

The Honda Helix models of 1986 & '87 were the only models that did not come equipped with the carb brace set up. You can get the parts from BikeBandit.com if you care to make your own, or the one posted above is a good bracket and complete. I have seen people pack foam under the carb, but I don't like that idea, restricts air flow but might be ok if you are water cooled.
