Are the oil systems on 2 stroke 2004 yamaha vino's reliable? It has a separate oil resevoir and separate gas tank, and then it mixes it itself. Are these "self-mixing" systems making sure enough oil is getting to the gas when it is burned? Or are they unreliable? I don't want my motor seizing up on me due to faulty oil delivery.
If they are unreliable, can I just empty the oil tank but leave everything attached the way it is and then just premix my oil/gas? Or do I have to remove/block other components?
What's the ideal premix ratio? Thanks a bunch, just wanted to know for future reference if I can ever get my vino running again.

The premix system is very reliable on stock scooter, and you use less overall oil because it is precise..most guys dont go premix until they install a 70cc kit..which i use to run a 32.1 mix ratio, but ive seen others recommend a 40.1..but overall just use a good quality full sythentic oil injection oil like motul, or im using repsol, and you will have no worries.

The oil injection system is based on rpm which works very well, unless you get a bigger carb, then you will want to go with premix

Alright cool, thanks for the info guys:) I guess I'll keep the oil pump on the vino instead of premixing. Is the cheap SuperTech 2 cycle oil from Wal-mart Okay to use? Or do I absolutely need to buy a better 2 cycle oil?

There's a wide variety of opinions on oil. I use cheap Valvoline 2 stroke and have no problems. Some peaple swear by synthetic oil.

Oops, didn't see your response till now. Thanks for the info, I'll just try using the cheap Supertech 2 cycle oil once I get my scooter running unless anyone feels that will be bad for it. Thanks guys:)
