Had the scooter running this spring, always started fine until sitting now for the past 3 weeks. Now it starts but slows down and dies out after several seconds. The odd thing is that it started when i first got it out this spring after sitting for probably around a year with the same old gas in it. I then ran it a few times, now it won't run. It is a Tank 150. Any ideas?

I spent most of the day working on the same issue. In the end, I pulled out the Carb Took off the fuel basin and the vacuum diaphragm sprayed it down with carb cleaner and put everything back together. This is where "most of the day" comes in. I got it to idle only, anytime I tried to rev it up it would die. I put the spring in on the wrong side of the vacuum diaphragm. when I corrected that and adjusted the idle screw a little, everything was perfect. This isn't my video's however, this is how my day started www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi1YkypThHI&feature=relatedI think the crud on the pin which extended down from the diaphragm was causing the bladder not to go all the way up and down, hence a vacuum issue. I used this video to help reference things: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuMH_ILOQmoThis video was pretty good for explaining how to clean the jets. www.youtube.com/watch?v=baNDtRZHJHAAt about 1:50 into this video was where my problem was www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnzzUOcXqLY&feature=related I just used my fingernail to scrape off the crud ring. I didn't take off all the parts he did though. Just what I felt I needed to for a good cleaning. My screws were pretty soft too, so use caution.

ugh i don't know how confident i am in tearing apart the carb... How can i tell if its getting proper vacuum?
I just find it odd that it would start easily and run fine every time from the first time i got it out this spring, then after sitting for around 2-3 weeks it won't run.

Test the fuel flowing to the carb.. could be a bad petcock...check the vacuum mose that runs from the center of the petcock to the intake elbow...a leak there will prevent the scooter from running Attachments:

I disconnected the fuel line right before the carb and it pumps gas when trying to start. The other hose looks good as far as i can tell. Also i don't have a petcock that looks like the pic you attached. The only thing i see that might be it is attached to the bottom of the gas tank. It has 2 hoses connected to it. One of those pumps out gas. So i'm assuming we are talking about the same thing.

OK that is a tank mount petcock you have... If you have gas at the carb then it is working OK...
So, do you have a spark on the plug?
If you have spark then you also probably have plugged jets in the carb... so you need to clean the carb...

I assume the spark is fine since it starts for several seconds then dies out. If i play with the throttle at all it dies immediately.
I guess i'm just gonna need to dive into tearing apart the carb....

I was concerned too about taking anything "apart". I watched lots of video's first and made sure to try and remember how things went. (though I did make that one mistake). Just kept in mind that doctor saying "do no more harm".
I was really shocked how easy the screws were to strip. So, be real careful. If your phillips is even slightly wiggly, get another one or use a rubberband between the tool and screw head for added friction.

The float bowl screws have thread lock on them. To break the bond put the phillips screw drive in the screw head and support under the screw like on the edge of a table, or better still a vise... and whack the screw driver with a hammer. Hard but not too hard if you get my drift...
Do all four... they should remove much easier...

Success!! I took the carb apart sprayed a little cleaner around in there, put it back together and it runs fine now. And it wasn't as bad or difficult as i thought it would be. Thanks for the tips.
