Planning on a new purchase in about 6 months, and have been doing some comparative shopping. I am 6' 178lbs. I rarely ride 2up but I live in south Florida (no hills) mostly commuting to and from work. Although, The wife (98lbs) would like to go on an ocasional weekend trip. The Aeolus has a large storage area under the seat....very important to me...while the BMS has a small trunk space in the rear, and as far as I can tell, no under seat storage with the vertical mount engine. I have heard several complaints about the fit and finish on the Aeolus but can't find any reviews on the BMS. The Aeolus has no tach, clock, or trip meter, and no remote start or alarm...the Bms has all of those things. So which would be better ? I like the sport look of the Linhai over the bms, but the bms has more features, and both are priced about the same.

It's tough choosing between two similar scoots if you cannot test out each one. But there are other things to consider besides the scoot itself....like the place you're getting it from, possible support, warranty work, etc. BMS does have an excellent site for ordering spare parts..... Link.. There's no guess-work ordering stuff here, unlike many other parts suppliers. Break something on your BMS....(don't know about the Roar however) you can usually find it here, without a bunch of trouble on the phone.

the alarm and remote start I can do without, I thought it was a nice feature, but more things to brake. The only place to buy these is online. I even contacted BMS with my zip code trying to find a B&M and they refered me to an online retailer. It seems theres no place in south Fl to actually see them in person.

The Aeolus is built like a Swiss watch. No question in my mind...that's the one to go for.

Hi there,
I don't have the Aeolus 300, but I do have the Aeolus 260. The basic engine design, to my understanding, is that it's a Yamaha engine that was used in the Yamaha Majesty 250 that was not imported to the USA, however, it was very successful in different parts of the world, primarily Europe.
Both the 300 and 260 engines have been modified from the original Yamaha 250. There is some Yamaha quality control in the making of these engines, even though they are manufactured in China. They are definitely one of the better out there.
I also agree with what the other dawgs mentioned. Remotes, and alarms etc can usually just cause more headaches. Sometimes less is more...and yes, I'm extremely satisfied with my Aeolus 260, so that's the one I can recommend. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the BMS L-Roar 250. I'm familiar with the brand but not that model.
The bottom line is that you decide which one fits your needs best. Good Luck.

Well, I thought I had made up my mind on the aeolus. Was going to order from riderswholesale.com because they had the best price, but after researching their bussiness on BBB I dont think I can order from them. Valley wants considerably more for this bike...more than I wanted to spend. So now I am considering the BMS TBX 260.

too bad those 500 cc $2500 deals are rare.
That model of bms is not C.A.R.B .. Oh well..
I'm guessing there are some sharp traders here. I'm going to try and make a good choice and live with it,, Price is on my mind too.
The way I figure it a $2k loses 1K$ in value once it is delivered.
Good luck.

I have an '06 Aeolus 300 that I bought new in 2008. Love it to death. I have 6,900+ miles to date. I know, I don't ride a lot during the winter, or summer when it's too hot.
No problems, except I have had 3 CDI Units die on me. Those are plug and play though, and easy enough to replace. I just keep a spare on me all the time. For some reason, the extreme heat in Mississippi seems to kill them in the summer. Never had one bit of engine trouble, or any other type of trouble. I change my oil every 1,000 miles, and flush the radiator coolant every year. I have replaced the tires once with higher quality Shinko tires because the rear factory tire wore out, and I wanted a matching set. That's it. Just miles of smiles. If you want a scooter that is the best China has to offer, you can't go wrong with a Linhai!
