I forgot to mention, the engine on the Fly is a Leader model, which has no rev or speed limiter.

Ok, I think that I have some good news...
Today I filled up the tank, with 93 octane. (The other day, I tried the open gas tank thing, no luck). After running to the grocery store and dropping my groceries at the house, I took it for a test run. I got on a straight away for around 1-2 miles at 50+ speeds, and it didn't cut out. Towards the end it did sputter a little, however, when I turned onto the next street it picked up and drove fine.
Because it ran so much better with the higher octane gas, I am thinking that slight sputter could be from the remaining 1/4 tank of regular gasoline that was left. However, I cannot be sure yet. I am going to keep testing it for a few days to see if this fixed the problem. If not, I will try the next method, and look into vacuum issues.

I have two 2008 150cc Fly LaVie's. I've experienced this many times and found that it is a lack of fuel pressure at WOT for extended periods of time. I resolved it by having my local shop install an electric fuel pump on the bike I ride at WOT most of the time. Issue was resolved.

The Flyscooters La Vie have the gas tank below the carb - really benefit from a better fuel pump. The Piaggio Fly has the tank up above carb - vacuum pump is usually all that is needed, but we have seen some fuel build-up in the evap system from the tank overflow, causing vacuum issues...
