Ok, so i picked up the 150cc motor/project in my other thread (50cc->150cc swap..) anyways.. thing came with a new carb and i've been trying to find information on it. there isnt anything stamped on it that helped identify, but here goes... it looks like this (like just about ALL of the carbs for these. ) www.partsforscooters.com/125-150cc-GY6-Carburetor-169-49?sc=2&category=124359 it came with bare ends on the autochoke wire, a y connector on the vacuum lines vs a T, and one side said something like "Japan standard" and the other side had "FL14JL2" stamped on the main body on the side just above where the floatbowl bolts up. im wondering that means anything or sounds familiar to anyone. im looking at doing some jetting and hoping to eliminate SOME of the guess work/trial and error etc. Thanks in advance for all replies.. -Scott

It's a 24mm CVK butterfly carb. Originally made be Keihin, usually the one's supplied with these scoots are clones. Keihin parts are usually interchangeable.

great thanks!
is there a reference list or anything that you found that info? or just common knowledge from being around the scoot world for a bit?

great thanks! is there a reference list or anything that you found that info? or just common knowledge from being around the scoot world for a bit? I'll see if I can find some info on it from Keihin. I know because I have a Chinese 24mm carb, supplied with a scoot and a real Keihin carb that I purchased. The only differences is the Keihin one has a black top, the clone a gold like in the PFS link above. I'm afraid even with knowledge of the carb type it's still very much a trial and error process.

Yup, but check around. You can get a range of jets for about $15. It is mostly trial and error to get the right set-up. You could get poor buying them one at a time...
Tip don't bother with the idle jet... just do the main...

Got a kit for $16 shipped. has 100, 102, 105, 108, 110, 114, 115 in it. im guessing i should start with 100 and go one by one then ey? thing had a 96 jet in it. i also got this filter.... i pulled the carb, and put in a 102 jet, i set the idle (had to modify the throttle cable holder bracket) thing ran just fine but since there is like snow on the ground, ice on the road, and its 10 degrees out, i opted not to drive it around. i do notice a bit of smoke coming off of the exhaust pipe and out the muffler. but that could be burning off some of the engine degreaser i had sprayed on the engine previously. if the plug is white, it would be showing a lean condition right?

Rehashing an old thread now that its warmer out.
right now i have the same carb, with a 115 Jet in it and a 45 pilot jet. Here is the symptom that i am having. it starts and runs, i have to have the mixture screw turned all the way in, but when i take off from a start it'll go until i open the throttle up then it chugs like A... its starving for fuel, or B. its getting TOO much fuel. any ideas??
in the case it was starving.. for sh!ts and giggles i drilled the 96 jet out with a .125 drillbit, giving like a 160 jet (equivelant) or so. which as you can imagine only made it worse, i couldnt get more than 25% throttle before it would lose power momentarily.
i just mentioned that last part in an event to hopefully help with diagonisis.
with the mixture screw all the way in, am i giving full air? no air? also how many turns out is stock on the Kihein carbs?
please bare with me, im really not much of a carb guy.
Think it 'could' be a problem with autochoke?
from another thread i read, it sounds like the 115jet was too big and i should go lower. however. when i had a 110 in it, i got some smoke out my pipe like it may have been running lean.
