A note I have put 5.5 sliders in, all six no big change in acceleration or top speed. O-40 11 seconds top speed 50.1MPH measured distance and time. Rom's at 50 8200. This AM was very cool morning and I noticed something as I had to make a fast run to Post Office. my top speed was only about 35 WOT but on return WOT was well over 45MPH. It goes to show a warm up of the engine is much needed to get top performance. 4 stroke, no air box, rejeted, exhaust adjusted, Iridium plug., tiny tack, wind screen 170lbs, 6ft..

hey dave, what jets did you end up using? where did you get them? i have my 80cc kit installed and need to get the fueling straightened out.

Jets were #38 Low speed (I think)and #88 Hi speed (I know)I had tried a #90 in the high speed with low not changed but it was to much of a gap for low to high to operate well. So am thinking of going back to the #90 but going up on the low one step. Google "Keihin jets" or "Keihin CVK50 jets" you should find a web page with just the jets. Shipping cost more than jets.

OK I got the scooterassasins.com variator. And that about it I got it but so far it has almost destroyed my belt. I have emailed them asking about the belt size that should be used with their belt> But no reply after 36 hours. They are in Taiwan. The vari came from there direct 8 days total so delivery good. So all hold off buying same until I find out what's going on! Have more problems when changing out my carb to make a change (secret) I torn the neck of the filter such than it would not fit. So replaced that with a K&N type filter but it's to small for the air volume needed to drive 10K machines. Struggling again!!
Stay tuned for more! Dave

A word about Scooter Assassins. I have emailed them twice trying to start up a dialog and they haven't replied. I think it's because most of what they sell is garbage. I've been following a British forum and the only reports I see are the same. A lot of their stuff doesn't work. Until they come through and provide a little support and back their products, I would stay away. Just a Dawg sniffing around. Some folks don't like it. And Riker, would you drop it with the secrets? C'mon man, scooter buddies share info, or at least sell it cheap!

Well it's seem's your right about scooter assasins "the name fit's but I am trying to see if they will reply second email sent today. For DAWG only: the secret did not work so you have lost nothing but I lost a very good UNi-filter coupling neck cut it back and got it back on but I guess I will have to buy another!! K&N type filters you need at least a 4 inch dia taper to 3 inch over at least 3 inchs. For you guru's check out the air volume need to run at 10,000 RPM's you will see my point.

You only should up the jets if removing the air restrictor. But do try to email Riker. I'm still guessing that you have a leak somewhere or have timing chain off a link. You have to be very careful when installing the gaskets and such or you can end up with a problem.

I double checked the timing today. It is dead on the money. I thought I needed to rejet because of this? I have quadruple checked everything. I have adjusted that screw on my carb till I am blue in the friggin face. I am ready to just change it back to 50cc. At least I could ride it. Does anyone have a 50cc engine for sale?

Ok Doc...lol Here it is: Last saturday I replaced my 50cc gy6 poopy top end with an 80cc topend. Since then, the scooter sputters, wont idle at all, wont stay running unless you are twisting the throttle as fast as you can. I have checked the timing quite a few times and it is dead on. The valve clearances have been triple checked. I have changed the spark plug 3 times. I have open the engine up and found no problems. I talked to a friends father who has alot of 2 stroke experience (i know mine is a 4 stroke), He told me to take it apart again and make sure that the rings are positioned properly. So, that was going to be my next attempt. I just dont have anymore new gaskets. I dont believe you can reuse them right? So, doctor.....what do you think?

oops: If the gaskets ARE NO BENT FOULED OR MUTILATED REUSE THEM. dumb question do you still have the stock fuel filter? if so go buy a new one American . Puraltor makes a nice one, I had some what same problem. changed the fuel filter and it went away. stock filter could not supply en ought gas to keep the engine running. have you cleaned you carb? You say you checked for air leaks did you use WD40. I know it's damn frustrating but don't give up if it beat you your never going to forget it. I would clean the carb. Just for fun Just one tiny piece of sh-t can make a very unhappy rider. I had carp in my high speed jet from the factory. did not find it until I changes jets.

I am really loosin it here.....I dont know what else to do. I will wait for your reply. I will try that filter idea. I already tore down and cleaned the carb. I did that on monday.

you know I had a problem with my idle and it was just an air leak I refushed to listen to anyone that that was the problem, but when I retighten the clamps and did any with the stock clamps the problem went away . any auto supply store should have a puralator it's a 3/16 inlet outlet type I don't have the number handy but if I can find it I send it to you. If you have checked all those things you say I realy am stumped as to why it will not run What gets me the raped throttle thing , you say it runs if you to that. Thats an air leak intake side or vacuum side or you carb is not closed up at the assembly points.

I am going to go get the filter today. I will check my intake and vacuum again. I will also replace my spark plug again. I got pissed yesterday and drilled the main jet WAYYYYY to big. So now, I have no main jet. Noone seems to have anything. Rageperformance didnt have anything. I called them and they are out of stock. I ordered an 88 jet from scooter ASSassins, but they do not reply to my emails and have sent nothing.

Success!!!!!!! I replaced the fuel filter and it got a little better. I decided to do a compression check and it was good at 145. I took a look at the spark plug and it was screwed. The electrode was push against the tip of the plug. I found an old plug and put it in and the scooter fired right up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did notice that my drilled out high end jet was a little too big and the scooter was getting way too much fuel. I will have to get an 88 jet immediately. So, it looks like I am a jet away from getting back on the road.
