Whats up dawgs! I haven't been here for a while. I've busy with the shop and my day job. Anyways, my iL Bello winter project is finally done so I thought I'd come to Scootdawg and share. Hope you guys like the transformation. Here's a picture of my iL Bello in stock form: Man, I can't remember the last time that my scoot was that clean! ... And here she is now: Side view I should have taken pictures outside in the sun, but we are lacking good weather at the moment. So here's everything that was done:
Cosmetics:
Front fender-was removed, actually this was totally unintentional. I let a customer test ride my scooter and she crashed it right into the back of my car. Destroyed my fender but my scoot and car were fine. I liked the look, so I left it alone.
Lowered- the front suspension by replacing the stock front shocks with some Lance Venice Rear shocks. I had to remove about 3-3.5 coils to give it the stance I wanted. I purpose put the scoot on its side stand for the picture, but the stock side stand is way too long now. I usually use the center stand. I'll probably cut the side stand down eventually. BTW the reflector you see next to the shock is actually a working blinker.
Handle bars- I got tired of the stock bars so I replaced it with 1" Harley style drag bars. I also replaces the mirrors with something low profile.
Rear End- to give it a sleek look, I got rid of the rear luggage rack & back rest. I replace the tail light with a round LED fixture, and hid some blinkers under the vent. I wanted more chrome so Black CVT cover with one from Lance (no offence to Fly:) ) I no longer have a mount for my license plate, so I found a way to mount it to the engine.
Sound- I installed a 100 watt motorcycle sound system and custom mount the waterproof speakers directly to the fairings. Check out my website: pcp411.com and look up sound sound sound. I have a youtube video of how it sounds.
Performance:
155 Big Bore Kit (only one I offer that is a direct bolt w/o machining) A12 cams highway gears OKO 28mm carb aluminum intake manifold Air Filter Dr. Pulley Variator 10gm weights Koso HP Clutch w/ red springs Red Torque Spring No Rev Limit CDI Advance Timing Key Modified aftermarket exhaust (shorten by 50%)
Stock iL Bello- top steep 55mph (Chinese gauge) about 50 gpsed
Modified iL Bello- top speed 72mph (Chinese guage) about 65 gpsed (She still has some juice left when the needle is past the 70mph marker, but I haven't found a safe road w/o going on the freeway to test her true capability
Overall with the mods, my full range is improved greatly, and I turn way more heads now!

Mr. Gene, you still around man?
So where'd you get your pipe for your exhaust? What kind of exhaust is that?
I know you upgraded your clutch and springs, but what was your stock clutch and torque springs?

Hey Marine.
My partners and I actually own a shop. The slip-on exhaust is a China-made no name, it's approximately 16.5 in length and 4 in in diameter. I've tried a lot of after market exhaust and this is the only one with a header position that is 90% compatible with the iL Bello (or similar scooters- Vintage, etc). With the exhaust in its stock form, you will have to re-bend the header down because it angles the pipe too far upward toward the right rear fairing. You'll have to lose the chrome accents if you do not want to modify exhaust. Also, the included mounting bracket will need a 2"extension.
We sell the exhaust system for $175+shipping. If you want us to make it a stubby exhaust, I can have it professionally done for $40. PM me if you are interested.
As for the clutch/springs, I was running a stock clutch with the stock springs which are 1000's. The stock torque spring was also a 1000. I upgraded the clutch springs to 2000's and the torque spring 2500. With this upgrade, I noticed snappier more responsive clutch engagement through my low & mid power band.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ok, just to make sure I understand, that exhaust does not come stubby like that, you cut out a section of that muffler and re-weld it to make it a stubby, and for that system with the stubby muffler would be $175 + $40 + shipping? Is that right? **This thread should have remained in the 150cc section** The more this site is partitioned and subdivided, the less useful it is. The 125cc+ section isn't exactly too busy for this thread.**

Here's a picture of my iL Bello in stock form: Man, I can't remember the last time that my scoot was that clean! love the bit of Lot that you parked on. NO PARKING and you are right on top of it. I just bought a very similar scoot, your mods are very cool. I especially like the Handlebars and getting rid of the taillight. How much of a headache is changing out handle bars? I looked at mine today and the turn signal brackets are welded on to the handlebars so I'd have to find a way to remedy that. As it is, my hands are practically on my knees when I ride, so I want a straight bar.

I actually test rode this scooter and I liked it so much I bought a black il bello 150 from Gene instead of a 260cc I was looking at at another shop.

Hi redorchestra,
Changing the handle bars out is actually not too difficult, but here are some key things to think of before you attempt it:
1) Make sure you purchase 1" diameter bars....most bars are 7/8". 2) You'll have to disconnect both blinkers, the connections are under the front main fairing. You can either get creative with repositioning the blinkers, or purchase aftermarket ones of your taste. 3) Once the controls and grips are off the stock bars, measure the small holes on both ends of the stock bar. The small holes keep the controls from rotating when mounted.
Also, you mentioned that you're hands are practically on your knees now.... Keep in mind that this mod actually lowers the handle bar position so I recommend getting straight bars that are wider in total length/width than the stocks.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info mr. gene. I think it looks great with those drag bars.
I also want to ask you about your stereo. Did you cut holes for the speaker pots or are they mounted outside? It looks so clean!
What and where is the stereo part? Under the seat or is it mounted in the fairings?

It looks so clean! What and where is the stereo part? Under the seat or is it mounted in the fairings? Hi redorchestra, You can find the stereo system on my website www.pcp411.com. It comes with a mini 100watt amp (about the size of a cigarette box), 2 waterproof speakers chrome or black, 2.5mm stereo cables to plug into your Ipod, a remote module, handle bar mounting brackets, and power cables. I ran the power wires straight to the battery under the fairings so I could have easy access to the amps fuse box (attached to the power wire). The amp was small enough to hide under the front main fairing. I did this because I chose to use the remote module. The remote is optional to use. If you use it, you can hide the amp anywhere. The remote module allows you to turn the amp on/off and control the volume. If you choose not to use the remote, I'd recommend mounting the amp under the seat or an accessible compartment. If you don't use the remote, you will have to power the amp on/off manually and the volume can be controlled by the sound source (Ipod) Hope this helps.
