I just got this scooter and I am looking to get more performance out of it. I have never worked on two stroke motors but have done almost all of my owne mechanic work except trans stuff. where do i start and does anyone know where i could get a chiltons type manual. it curently bogs down and i tried seafoam and cleaned the air filter and changed the fuel filter, should have taken pics but i can post later if there is a question about the scooter. i think it is a silver fox or jet 50 it says her chee on the gear box and i dont see other info i do have the owners manual but it sucks for anything other than where the gas goes

ADLY makes good scooters. They're a Taiwanese company and just newer to the US market.
At what speed is it bogging down? It should be able to go 40, 42 mph no problems unless it's restricted. Mine came de-restricted, so I'm not sure where the restrictions are. The engine in a minarelli clone, so any manual for minarelli motors could be of help.
I assume it's used (otherwise you'd take it back to the dealer to fix). How long did it sit? You miight need to take apart and really clean the carb. I'd also just plop in a new spark plug...never hurts.

Yeah, the low-speed circuit in the carb is likely obscured. read my pined post in the Tips and Tricks section, "Carb Cleaning 101".

Have you given the Seafoam a chance to really work? (Probably 2 wks. of daily driving) How old is the scooter? Have you removed the fuel release valve and checked for contamination in the fuel tank? You may have to disassemble the carb and soak it in carb cleaner and spray it out.
The first step in two stroke tuning is usually a performance pipe along with roller weight reduction and possibly torque spring stiffening. This will give you much better take-off and about 5-7 mph top speed increase. Fuel mileage should only suffer very slightly.

thanks for all the help i think the seafoam may be working. I drove to work today and seemed to have less of a problem. I think that this scooter may be restricted because i dont go over 30-35 mph unless its down hill, tips on how to remove the restriction would be great or i can just try to figure it out. I bought the scooter used from a friend who knew nothing about mechanical work and couldnt get it started. I played with it and got it running. Its a 2006 seems to run strong but some times more power is important in trafic. The bogging problem starts at 15mph and after i get over 25 goes away. So it starts strong bogs at 15 then if i nurse it over 25 it goes again. well thanks again for all the help so far

That's definitely restricted. I'm no help with de-restricting, but a search of the board should find plenty of hints of where the restrictions might be. I agree having the extra power is great for in town traffic. I recently hit 47 mph on a very long straight away, routinely cruise at 40 even up slight inclines, and hold most hills between 26 and 32 mph depending on the grade (there are 2 wicked hills where I'm stuck at 22 mph if I go up them from a dead stop - naturally they have lights that I always seem to stop at).

thanks Eric I will search the posts and try to find a way to de-restrict my scooter. where would you look for a (i hope this is right) jog kit I was thinking about going a bit bigger.

All you gotta do is snip one of the wires on the CDI. I don't know which one though, I had mine done while having the final drive fluid changed.
