Rich - Why does it say "This video removed by the user?" Don't see anything by "Jessica".

That was pretty lame. I love how she zips off with no safety gear including no helmet. No need to let the engine get any oil pressure either. Oh well they tried.

I actually thought it was pretty good for someone brand new to scoots. Most don't have a clue on how the trans works. Besides, did you hear the part about how the engine works? "Suck, Squeeze, Burn, Blow" That alone was worth the watch! ;D ;D ;D

Ha ha.. yeah. Adding squeeze in there sure makes it more fun doesn't it I suppose if you had no clue at all it would be okay. Maybe I was being to critical. There's another similar video of a girl changing the oil in a scoot. She talks about the "filter" screen and how you should clean it. Talked about how it would trap small particles that may accumulate, like from breaking it in. So she dumps it out and there was a big chunk along with the normal stuff. This was noticeable to the viewer, and you know how much detail there is in this type of vid. If I had seen that come out I would of been like WTF! If I find it again, I will post the link.

Gorgeous and/or scantily clad babes in motorcycle/scooter/car/firearm videos are generally just eye candy, and usually not mechanically knowledgeable.
Jacine being the exception.... ;D

I thought it was excellent! The girl was very pretty and this did not distract from the information, which was quite good.

I disagree, I think she had some knowledge about the bike. Fine perhaps she was 'eye candy' <.<
Interesting video.

Hey Guys! Jessica here. I'm brand new to flyscooters, and to scootering in general. First of all thanks for the compliments. Second, a lot of you are right, I don't have much technical knowledge the first thing I did when I started working here was to deconstruct a scooter and try to figure out how everything worked. This video was the result of that experiment so it is very much for newbies. I wanted to emphasize that you don't have to be a mechanic to really have a connection with your scooter. In response to the helmet thing. I agree that was dumb in my defense I only went about 10 feet at 5 mph but Flyscooters and myself advocate helmet use at all times. I apologize for putting something out there to the contrary.

Hey it's Jessica the celebrity! Welcome to the group! Glad to hear you advocate helmets. Just wouldn't want newbies to get the idea it's "okay" to not wear a helmet for safety. At first I posted negatively about the video, but after some consideration I believe I was to critical. In any event, it is great to see some positive videos out there for the newbies who are just getting interested in scooting. Ride on Jessica!

Jessica Welcome! It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out on the Web like you did. There are always armchair editors that want to critique your efforts. The video was fine for whom it was intended (New scooterists) Working for Leon and Daniel you will become more technically savvy very quickly. Have a Karma for your efforts.

"The rectifier's job is to turn Direct Current into Alternating Current."
Bzzzt! Try it the other way around. In the scoot's alternator, permanent magnets in the flywheel spin around the stator, inducing an electric current in the stator coils. The output is what some call "Wild AC", because it's frequency varies with engine speed and probably is not purely sinusoidal. "Alternating" means that the voltage output swings positive and negative alternately. AC is not useful to charge your battery, so you use the rectifier (a diode bridge which directs the electron flow in one direction, minus to plus) to convert it to DC. I would hope that there's a voltage regulator in that same rectifier package that's a little more advanced than a big, honking resistor, but hey. It is a cheap Chinese scooter, what do I know? (I suspect the resistor is for something else, like the auto-enricher).
"Inside the stator is a flywheel..." No, inside the *flywheel* is the stator, so called because it is stationary (doesn't move). The stator is the one with the "copper poles" or windings. At the risk of being overly pedantic, the process does not "create electricity," it converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

Jessica, thanks for the informative video. According to some it had a couple of flaws but for a novice (read me) it was very informative. Helmet not a big deal as I come from OH and they are not required after the first year. By the way- you aren't the marrying kind as you have not met me yet!

Congratulations rattlemeter! Your smarter then me. However, if I had not greatly over simplified many people, who do not have your mechanical knowledge would not have understood what the heck I was talking about and thus, the video would have been useless. The idea was to get someone new to scooters to start asking questions and develop a stronger connection with their scoot. It worked from me I went from a prissy little girl, to being able to change a carb. or air filter, and most importantly to understand all the little noises a scooter makes. For such a smart guy Rattle, its really unfortunate that you have decided that all Chinese scooters are "cheap". Such highly charged words lead to a lot of negativity. Granted there is a lot of cheap crappy Chinese scooters that flood the market. However, have you ever ridden a Flyscooter? We source our parts from all over the world, and we are constantly striving for the highest quality while maintaining value. (and yes there is a difference between value and "cheap") Anyway, this isn't AD space but I would advise against judging before you can make an informed decision as to a products worth. As far as the calender goes Why don't we do a men of ScootDawg as a fundraiser for Cannonball Run? BigDawg, don't mean to shoot you down, but I sent you a windshield if it makes you feel any better. :-)

Oh Jessica... a measly windshield will never make up for the pain... ;D ;D
Oh my goodness... I guess I'm out on the men's calendar! Unless of course, you meant a comedic calendar!
And notice something else dear, no one else criticized your video for the slight errors, since the audience you're targeting is as you described, the newbie, and giving them a basic understanding was what it was all about.
Rattlemeter, no offense, but I think you'll find many people here that are very proficient at the operation of a scooter and the mechanics involved, and just didn't criticize because it... well... wasn't really appropriate in this thread. It wasn't meant to be a classroom lesson on repair.
I am personally impressed by the fact that a dealer is taking time away from making sales to dismantle and train their employees and make infomercials for their customers.

What an interesting thread this turned into Rattlemeter, maybe you were a little harsh, but you did point out some errors that were, well, errors. They needed to be pointed out. Clown, don't forgo the helmet even if it is not a law in your state. True in a high speed crash, it may, or may not do much, but in many crashes, it could save your life. You have no doubt seen someone with road rash from falling off a bike, imagine that on your face. I have several friends that were either riders or passengers that were in involved in bike crashes that the full face helmet kept them from leaving their face on the pavement. The destroyed helmets took the damage instead of their faces. Hear me now, remember me later... wear your safety gear, even if it is just to go around the corner. Flygrrl, the vid does have a few errors, but it does give a newbie some insight. It serves the purpose. Keep up the good work! Big Guy, come on... you can pose for the camera! I'll do it with ya and together we can blind and sicken the rest of the scooter community!
