With great weather and some time off, we rode almost 500 miles in 3 days. Day one we left our home in Sedro Woolley at 9:45, with reservations for the Keystone to Port Townsend ferry for 12 noon. Rode down highway 20 the entire way there, going halfway down Whidbey Island, just past the town of Coupeville. Nice ride down a 2 lane highway, traffic wasnt to bad. My wife and I rode our SYM's, my son followed us in my car. This is my oldest son just back from his second tour of Iraq, he is a Marine.
At the ferry dock we were the 1st bikes to arrive, we were about 45 mins early for the ferry. Later on two more bikes showed up togather. One was a guy on a Harley, and his buddy was on a Burgy 650 Executive. The hail from Bellingham if I remember correctly. The Burgy owner had all the perks on his along with the pimp gear (heated suit including pants, gloves) was impressive. He said he had enough of the cold rides and bought better gear.

On the ferry to Port Townsend from Whidbey Island. Yoou can see the burgy and harley behind us. Bikes load first and first off, which is sweet.
On the way there we went west on highway 20 till we hit highway 101. We went the long way around there, going west around the point of Washington. The scenery is spectacular, going around lakes, seeing eagles and deer. The road is a 2 lane most of the way, except near some of the bigger towns, where it is a divided 4 lane. Was about 290 miles from Sedro Woolley to Ocean Shores via this route. Wife was sore from the ride, we were travelling for about 7 hours. We both enjoyed it alot.
Wifes low nicotine light came on, sooner than we needed gas, so we had several rest stops which was enjoyed by all. This is one in Forks, WA. Last good sized town till Hoquium which is 100 miles down the highway.
We spent a full day in Ocean Shores, hitting the beach, losing money in the casino, and shopping at the local stores. Was alot of fun. They have a thriving scooter rental business in Ocean Shores. Looked at some of the rentals, we 50cc Zip brand. The salt environment was taking there toll on them, all had rust on them. But they were a hot commodity, saw lotsa people on them all over town and on the beach, which you can ride on.
Some kites and balloons on the beach
Way back was the shorter route, which the wife liked alot better. Was actually almost 100 miles shorter. Went towards Hoquium then headed east towards Olympia. Caught 101 west after taking 109 from McCleary WA. Once we ran in highway 20 was back to Port Townsend ferry for the return trip to Whidbey Island. Once on Whidbey Island was continue down highway 20 back to our home in Sedro Woolley.
On the ferry back to Whidbey Island, there was a guy on an old Honda Passport, can see part of it behind our scooters.
