My husband and I live near Frederick, Maryland and thinking of getting a couple of 50cc scooters to run into town and back on. We have a few dealers scattered around the state but not a lot. I'm looking for a trustworthy place to start looking. I see great prices on line, but also seen threads where some of you rip these places a new one. Is there anyone who can be trusted on line for a scooter or are they all bad? Any recommendations for Maryland on who is reputable? We were looking at around a thousand bucks ea. thanks in advance! Ca depense. Do your due diligence and check up on each online retailer. Look at different scam websites, like ripoffreport.com and others. Check with the BBB. I'm sure you'll find one you like, then ask around to see if there are any reports that aren't to be found online.

Welcome!
Check out the Scooter Dealers Good and Bad thread, just above this one. Good info there, but yes do your homework, and don't expect the best service and dealership experience from the lowest on line price you can find. There are however some very good and fair individuals out there, but in most instances, you pay for what you get.
I had "Keats" drop shipped to an on line dealer, for around 600 dollars. But I didn't expect any dealer support. Was prepared to handle any shipping damage myself, and never received an MCO to date. It's still a good bike, thanks in large part to the Guru's and the Great Big Dogs on this forum.
My first scooter, a Motorino, was also dropped shipped, with about the same over all results. Didn't run. Minor shipping damage, no dealer support. I did receive an MCO. Cost almost twice what the Roketa did. I hadn't found where the Dawgs were hanging out yet, so it cost me another 100 to have a shop take a month to make it run. Picked it up from the shop, with additional windshield damage, and they shoved me out the back door, with only half the body hardware, and on two flat tires.
If you drop ship, and don't intend on performing most, if not all the repairs, maint, yourself, at least make sure it is a brand that the shop you will be taking it to, will honor the warranty. Some shops will, most won't unless you've purchased it directly from them. Not sure how they can even do that, but it is more common place than not.
Good luck and keep us posted (Pictures) This forum will become invaluable to you as a new owner. Keats has never been in a shop. That should say a lot. He got that way, because I became a Dawg!

If you or the hubby can tinker, the dawgs here can help you out enough to make getting a Chinese crate scooter shipped to your door worth it. If not, get one from a local dealer who will work on it for you.
