This is fun - even with an undersized carb it's a beast. If I pin the throttle I have to lean foward to keep the front wheel down.

I have been following this thread with some interest. I can't understand though why one dyno said that you were running rich and the other said that you were running way lean. Did you change something between dynos?

Did you change something between dynos? Sorry, should have said. Between runs the cylinder was changed for one running 1000rpm higher. It now makes peak power around 11800.

Received the bits (well, shiny did anyway). It's booked to have it installed and jetted on Tuesday. I'll post a before and after Dyno graph if I can. I spend the weekend sorting out the exhaust, fitting a new sleeve, repacking the muffler and stripping and repainting the expansion chamber. I decided to try something different with the packing: I've wrapped the core in a layer of steel wool and tied it down with copper wire before packing it in the usual way. It will be interesting to see if this changes the noise levels, as this was the way it was originally packed from new. The silencer sleeve was pretty battered and scratched, so I decided to remove the carbon kevlar layer from the outside of an old sleeve. The carbon kevlar was chipped and scratched, but the alu innards were fine. I prized the kevlar off with a chisel, before rough sanding with 80 grit sand paper. I gave it a final clean up with 800 grit wet and dry, rubbing along the length of the cylinder to give it a brushed look. Looking nice: Just waiting for the flat black on the expansion chamber to dry.

Wow, that change in packing technique really did work. It's now deeper and quieter, much better

Thanks for the info. I might have to try that next time I repack one.

An update for you guys. Got the carb installed and dyno set-up. Gained around 2hp on the top end, and even more low down. It's a wheelie machine!
I should have a dyno graph for you soon. It's interesting to see how much HP it makes at high speeds.

Here we go, had a rather productive day. There is one where we went on to 80, but don't have it to hand. This isn't a true representation of what the scoot can do, as there is no wind resistance factored in.

Thanks, it still isn't setup fully. The rollers are slightly too heavy, so it's only reaching 11800 RPM, about 700 short of peak power.

About as revvy as they come, I've seen the wrong side of 13000RPM on the flat! Are you talking about the rear mudguard? I'm leaving it on, as it protects my filter from the worst of the rain. There was a second one that I removed ages ago. I might get one of these: www.pedparts.co.uk/mtkt-rear-mudguard---piaggio-gilera-5610-p.asp

Yes, come rain or shine. The brackets that attach to the CVT are expensive, about £80. Removing the license plate entirely isn't an option.
