I've always been curious what is the fastest stock scooter available for each catagory:
50cc:
125-150cc:
150-250cc:
250cc and up:
I know scooters are not motorcycles, but I have seen some fast scooters. One that was pulling a wheelie going over 30mph (I know dumb, but still impressive.)

I guess I was looking for more specifics...Models/brands. For Example: The Gilera GP800 is probably the fastest scooter over 250cc. The beast has over 60HP. tinyurl.com/6859pv

well pretty much all the chinoscoots will give you the same speed on the 150s (roughly 55mph) jap scoots of the same size engine will give you more like 60mph
really doesnt change much across brands.

From a 125cc class i would throw "buddy genuine 125cc" into the mix its pretty fast for a stock 125cc around 60-65mph depending on the weight of the rider of course. www.justgottascoot.com/buddy.htm#Buddy%20Review But i've only rode one threw a test ride can't confirm its actual speed but it said around 64mph but i hold reservations on the speedo being correct but take a gps with u if you test ride one. But the acceleration was impressive that did take me by surprise it probably has to do with the actually dry weight being a little less compared to what i'm usually riding

I haven't taken my HD200 for a top speed run yet as I'm still breaking it in, but for a 171.2cc motor it will hit 65 no problem and is rated at 74 for a top speed, we shall soon see:)

Derbi made or still makes a watercooled 50cc two stroker that is probably the fastest 50cc scooter about. That Peugeot Compressor 125cc is probably the fastest scooter out there at this time. www.motorcycledaily.com/18april06_superscoot.htmComes with a real turbocharger on it. There aren't any performance stuff for 250's so the Peugeot 125 above is probably a shade faster than a 250. In the big maxi-scooter line the 650 Bergman is the fastest, at least until the 800cc Gilera scooter comes out. If you want custom the Defiant Scooter with the Harley Sportster 1200 engine is a firebreathing monster to ride.

the Derbi 50s share the same Minarelli engine as the majority of euro 50s, the Ditech will out run it. my bike has the same engine and i know its not as fast as the SR50ditech :(h
the Jetforce Compressor 125 is amazing, but the Derbi GP1 250 will spank it.
ps. id love to say the SYM HD200 is the fastest 150 to 200cc but the Scarabeo is faster. the SYM will stay together longer running those speeds though!

mine is a 50cc Malaguti Phantom, itll wheelie off idle (at about 10mph or so) but not at speed. there used to be a nice pic of me wheeling it on the old Malaguti USA web site. i wish i had that pic its been a great bike, im gonna hate to see it go when i ever do get my new one.

I really wish more of these performance bikes were available in the US. The Derbi GP1 250 is a mean looking scooter.
