blackc,
Have you considered a smaller scoot just for the side roads? A friend of mine is the same age and always rode a nice bike, but one day he said his vision was getting bad, sold the bike and got a Honda Rukus 50cc. Just goes around the block and to the store, but still gets his kicks. Luckily his did not involve an accidents.

I haven't been on the forum for a while and thought you might be interested in a progress report.
The Kymco GV 250 is still in the outbuilding where it is run once a week and kept in running condition and it's still for sale. Al fluids are current and clean so whoever gets it will be getting a real good machine with a lot of extra's. I haven't advertised it but wil start to now that riding season is here.
Have had major health issues that seem to be OK now but have kept me out of circulation since January.
Would still like to make the trip East but cannot do it alone and don't want to ask anyone for help so it off for now.
Cheers

I haven't added anything to this post since last spring and now it's December. Still have trouble with the shoulder and have had the scooter for sale forever. Sold it on Monday and the buyer rode it from Cottonwood to Flagstaff on Monday evening after dark and in freezing weather. He got along OK and called (at my request) when he arrived home after an uneventful and safe trip. One of the hazards of that route is the wildlife, particularly Elk, and Javelina in Oak Creek canyon. Said the scooter ran great and had more power than he thought when he bought it.
He got a real bargain.
So I guess I'm out of the scooter fraternity forever. Wish you all good luck, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and many good miles in the future.
I'm "green" with envy.
Cheers Blackc

howdy, and all the best on deciding what to do for the doing. i'm somewhat in the same though not as painful boat being about to decide that i can't drive truck for a living any more cause of the vision problems and slow reaction times and problems with blood sugar. is hard to admit that climbing a curb is as tough as leaping tall buildings used to be---lol
lotsa miles and smiles to ya
