rroobbii7, you should start a new thread if you have a new issue, but you probably need to burp/bleed the system.

Bought (2) MC-54-250B (Cyprus) Bikes. One For Me & One For My Wife. Changed Oil & Gear Oil No Problem. Decided To Change Coolant Also. Been Reading Of Others Having Problems Of Burping & What They Had To Do. I Changed Both Bikes NO PROBLEM. First I Warmed Up The Engine & Coolant. Let It Cool Down A Bit Then Removed Rad Cap. With The Cap Off I Removed Drain Screw & Drained Old Coolant. Before Replacing Drain Screw I Started Putting In Fresh New Coolant. This Pushed Out More Old Coolant & Air. When The New Coolant Started To Come Out I stopped & Replaced The Drain Screw. Continued To Fill With New Coolant Until Full. Started The Engine & Watched Coolant Go Down Filler Tube, & Just Kept Topping It Off Until It Became Full. As It Circulated I Kept Watching For Air Bubbles & For The Fan To Come On Which It Did. Started To Run A Little Hot Until It Got Circulated & Fan Kicked In. I Then Put The Rad Cap On.& Took A Short Ride & Came Back, Let It Cool & Checked Rad Level Topped It Off If Necessary. Now I Filled The Overflow Storage Tank To It's Proper Level. Took another Ride Making Sure Fan & Temp. Was Working OK. This Worked On Both Bikes. Did Not Remove Any Panels Other Than The Battery Compartment & Did Not Have To Remove Any Hoses. They Both Run Cooler Than Before. I Think The Trick Was Pouring In Fresh New Coolant Until It Came Out Before Replacing The Drain Screw. HJpo[e This Helps Someone Else.

Went to Walmart, Advance and Autozone. They all have Prestone but NO zerex at all and don't know where to get it so I used Prestone etc, 50-50 mix. It says it will mix with everything and all engines can use it so we'll see. On my scoot, the temp gage would only come up to the cold mark but when I changed, and only had about half in it, it would go to about one third, drove it about 5 miles and then put the rest in it and check it after another ride. ok now. I've got a Roketa and through all of my surfing on various sites it's recommended to use Honda's specially formulated anti-freeze that they use for their scooters. Using regular vehicle anti-freeze isn't recommended for Chinese scooters and the Chinese anti-freeze is colored water and should be changed before winter. As a reminder, when buying parts/something at a Honda dealer for your Chinese scooter, tell the Honda salesman you're buying for your Honda scooter. I tell them, Reflex, because my Roketa is a Reflex clone. Telling them a Chinese scooter will get you a quick exit out the door.

MY son and I where at this years daytona and talking to a race engineer he said that the linhai 257cc cooling system is JUST big enough to to cool the stock motor. Any performance upgrades overruns the cooling system . He actually took his out and uses a stock bore(57.4) gy6 with one of the Puerto Rican 80 mm stroker cranks. Making a ultra stroker tractor motor. Said his redline is now 6000-6500 rpm but even 2 up it never slows up hills (northern california )even at highway speeds . I asked him to comeon with dyno numbers after race season . Apparently hopping up pit bikes and scooters and a big hobby with them . Jake

Scooterollie, and All,
Have new Scoot (21mi.) A Tank 250 DE (08), With two problems: 1.) Temp gague does not function. 2.) radiator cap located, behind front glove box. unable to remove the box, Instructions in manual unclear, or for older model. The box is secured by a 10mm hex head bolt. This only turns, and fails to come out......Need some help to get this bolt and or box out.
Using screwdriver under the head of the bolt, the pressure allowed me lossen the bolt a 1/8". but now only turns.
does any one know how to get this box out, what the bolt screws into?
Other than my problems this is great info.

Here is the instructions provided with the Tank 250DE, for service of the coolant:
"Open the front trunk, insert a screw driver into the front trunk, and point against the nail which fasten the panel cover, and take off the the panel cover and nail. Only high standard meg mix refrigerant can be used. ect."
This makes no sense as there are no nails , rivits, or other mounting hardware, except the 10mm bolt , that I can't get out.

Hi to crypiejay, we have the same model scoot, rr250. I am also trying to get the cooling system squared away. A big thanks to scooterrollie for the detailed instructions. Knowing that the lower bolt is the drain plug is a big help. I was just going to pull the hoses and reverse flush the radiator. I am still curious as to how and where an "air lock" develops. This "shotgun" approach to resolving the problem is not very reassuring. On my scoot the radiator is under the front cowl which is attached with six screws which once removed will never again line up properly for reattachment. Now I have to take the piece of crap off again to do the drain, flush and refill.

Just purchased my new 2008 Linhai Aeolus 300 and after 10 miles, I am having issues with the temp gauge. It seems the fans are not engaging after 3/4 and then it immediately goes up to H. I think I could have troubleshooted the problem myself after reading Ollie's instructions, however, I took it right back up to the dealer. Tech said it is likely the sending unit/thermostat, etc. Hope to get it back free of charge, of course, in a couple days.

I did have that problem once during flushing, but did it a few more times and it cleared up. But, since it sounds like you purchased from a dealer since you took it "back" up to the dealer... maybe that is best as no one can claim you messed it up or something by accident and not cover it.

I've not yet been able to get my Linhai Aeolus 260cc on the road, as the temperature guage goes to red. I finally got the crud removed and water runs clean, but will not stay within proper heat range. Would like to check thermostat if I knew how to access it. Hope someone can help.

Could it be possible the gauge is not reading correctly.

Today I met a retired California motorcycle mechanic now living in Florida. He said it was either a faulty fan or the fan plug was not connected. I thought there was no way the fan plug was not connected, but a bad fan seemed more likely. Long story short, within minutes he traced the wire from the center of the fan to an UNPLUGGED connection. A few more radiator flushes, 50/50 coolant and i'm off.

Being new to scooters I wanted to make sure everything was right before even starting my new Linhai 300.I changed the oil and the gear oil and then went to drain my coling system. I removed the water hose from the intake to the water pump and when i stuck my finger in the end it was totally blocked. I removed the water pump cover to find a ball of tar like substance cloging the entire tube.I cleared the blockage and poured a bottle of Prestone radiator cleaner in the radiator.I started the scooter and watched as the temp guage went to one half.Cut the motor and topped the radiator with the same cleaner. I have had my scooter for 6 weeks now and and am still running the cleaner. It recommends 5000 miles for an automobile but think I will change it at 1,000 miles. The temp guage never goes above 1/2.
