I've always wanted to learn how to play the Hammered Dulcimer... that's very cool. I'm a guitarist (rock and blues mainly), but I have a huge soft spot for celtic folk tunes and ESPECIALLY like it when they mix it with some good ol rock guitar!

Though I sell both kinds, and also sometimes build mountain dulcimers, I only play hammered dulcimer just enough to demonstrate it. Although I play all kinds of tunes on mountain dulcimer, I really get into blues and swing, and have ocassionally used electric dulcimer with a distortion pedal in performances. I've always wanted to learn how to play the Hammered Dulcimer... that's very cool. I'm a guitarist (rock and blues mainly), but I have a huge soft spot for celtic folk tunes and ESPECIALLY like it when they mix it with some good ol rock guitar!

I make it easier and safer for F-16 fighter pilots to go out and kill people. I'm a program manager in the F-16 development and sustainment community. My job involves begging for funding and then coordinating all the steps required to get upgrades or improvements added to 1200+ jets.
Also retired USAF MSgt, since 2000.

I drive a horse-drawn carriage in Austin, TX, giving tours of the Capitol and other downtown sights, weddings, engagements, and general taxi rides to drunks back to their hotels. So I look at a Clydesdale's heinie all night, six days a week. Used to moving slowly, so a Chinese scooter will be fine for me once I save up enough tips. Been doing this 15 years now, started in Madison Wisconsin and got cold. Moved south.
LOL

I have been in the employ(didn't say work) of the US Postal service for 32 years. For 6 years I sorted the mail on a machine in a big plant in North Suburban Chicago. I saw a guy with a thermos sitting down at the end of the machine doing nothing while 15 of us on that machine sweated away like robots, wait, robots don't sweat . I asked who he was and how did he get that job? He's the mechanic and he had to take a test to get that job. Sample test question:You have a storage chest with 2 drawers, you have crowbars and lightbulbs, which one goes in the top drawer? In 1980 I passed that test and my life improved immensely. You could teach the average person to sort mail in 1 hour. Not so the mechanics job. Although we have a good number of poseur mechanics. It says mechanic on their paycheck but they aren't one.(on the other hand, I say EVERYBODY is a mechanic, it's just a manner of degree) I have a skill and the managers come to me when they have a problem with their machines. If they're good to me, I help them. There are conveyors, OCR's and high-speed sorters, etc. I can turn a wrench, figure out a mechanical problem and even follow an electric schematic. Internal combustion is not my forte`.
I parlayed my good attendance and skills?(Hey, it's not hard to fool a postal manager) into a transfer to the main PO here in Honolulu about 2 years ago. It is the typical postal plant but I can deal with it after 30 years of playing the game. After 50 years of living in Chicago it is a nice change of pace, kind of a working vacation. And I can ride my scoot the 2 miles to work at 05:30 AM every morning of the year. Some mornings it's real cold, 63! Luckily there are not too many of those. I couldn't afford a house here, I have a 2 bdrm, 1 bath condo on the 18th floor with a view of Honolulu Harbor. (240,000) I read the names off the container ships from my lanai(balcony) with a 250$ Meade telescope, then find them online.
Less than three years from now when I am 55 yrs old I can walk away with 68% of my salary. I envision getting a few acres in Kentucky or Tennessee. Maybe work in Wall-world part time. Or maybe even a little scooter shop! If you saw my previous posts I mentioned I brought my scoot up to the 18th floor to do the 72cc upgrade in the living room. My little Asian wife gave me a free ticket to do that with her blessing. I'd say that's a keeper!
OK, this is a what-do-you-do thread, not, what's your bio?
PS. Can we change the name of Riker's thread to "The Mad Scientist's Club"?

Lol, the mad scientist. That one should have been posted in the jokes section. I doubt Riker visits this section. He's too busy working on his next project. That's too funny. Welcome to all of you.

I'm currently 28, I started in this company as floor agent (taking calls, this is a call center) a little more than 6 years ago.
You are welcome to visit me down here if you plan to take vacations in the tropic! Very nice weather, beaches, mountains, rain forest, girls and beer!

Well guys my wife Carol and I are both Lonati Techs. In other words we are sock machine mechanics LOL. She makes Nike socks and my machines make just about all the other kind of socks. Usually all we do is wear a tool belt and walk around acting like we know what we're doing. LOL The hosiery business is going south so we don't know how long our jobs will last. She said that when they close her mill to move to Mexico she's going to sit home and draw until the gov. decides to send her back to school to retrain her, as for me I hope to retire.

I've seen this before and it has nothing to do with International Espionage! The most likley explination is that the user who posted the message was using a foreign language version browser, I'm guessig Chinese. I can't say for sure, but I would speculate that the board Lee is usnig does not understand Chinese and therefore did the 'best it could' to post the message.
