I'm a Software Support Tech, use the scoot to commute to work (26 mile round trip) 3-4 days a week. It's like a adrenaline rush every time I get on it. I purchased the scoot because I want to eventually purchase a motorcycle & I figured the scooter (150cc) would help me practice my street skills before I moved to something bigger. I hope to get a Ninja 250 within a year or so. In the meantime, the scooter is great & tons of fun. Best $1000 bucks I've ever spent.
Still have to use the car sometimes to taxi the kids around. Love it when the SUV drivers ask me what kind of mileage I get when I'm filling up at the gas station.
Something strange I discovered > Driving my little Toyota feels like a huge SUV when I've been riding the scoot for a few days...weird!

Monique:
I did some lab time in the air force. Now I am all digital (Pentax *Ist-D). I can not say that I miss the chemicals but the tone range was much better. Sadly my artistic talents somewhat lacking. Perhaps you will share the links to your on line work and maybe you can add a scooter pic or two.

oh i almost forgot i also have a 1965 Allstate vespa that someday i want to restore right now my husband says wait till he finishes restoring his truck ('70 c-10) so maybe next summer we will see or maybe i will sell it depends on how i end up liking the tank.

Very cool. I hope the Tank works out for you. The Allstate is worth restoring but those projects can be difficult....just getting parts and such. I hope you stick around on the forum....the guys were wondering in another thread about attracting more ladies to this forum. It's a little lopsided and we need to fix that. Scooters are for women too! I told 'em to quit talking about freakin' gear oil all the time. ;D

i don't mind the gear oil talk. i can be a little bit of a motor head at times. i am not a typical female. i can get just as dirty working on engines and the like as my husband does. i was reading a thread earlier about females taking longer to learn how to ride than men do ha ha i think that is dawg dodo. i have been riding a long time(dirt bikes) i just think that you have to be confident and respect the machine not fear the machine you are riding. after i am legal(w/ a license) i plan on kidnapping my husbands vfr he will not let me til i have a license

Dawg, Yes you are correct - there is a ton of shady business going on in our industry right now. Way too many mortgage brokers, real estate agents and other industry professionals jumped into this business to make a quick buck off of the booming real estate market and historically low interest rates. I am hoping that as the market starts to level off and as rates increase that we will see a market correction that will eliminate the fly-by-night operators. In my case I work for a very reputable company that has been in business since 1988 so we did not just jump in recently like a lot of other mortgage brokers. As a matter of fact I have been doing this for about 5 years and I have never once called an appraiser to ask that they inflate the value to make a loan work. I hear stories all the time from appraisers saying how mortgage brokers threaten to stop sending them business if they don't bring the values in where they want them to be. Its completely ridiculous and in many cases it is downright fraud. Anyway that is my opinion of the current state of the real estate/mortgage industry. It is a shame because there are a lot of honest professionals like you and me that do not take part in this type of crap and the actions of others tarnishes everyone's reputation. All we can do is continue to operate with the highest ethical standards. As a matter of fact I recently joined a non-profit group called "Up-Front" Mortgage Brokers (UMB). We recently formed an association called the Up Front Mortgage Brokers Association (UMBA). We strive to make the mortgage process completely transparent and abide by a strict code of ethics. You can read about UMB's here: www.mortgagesinmass.com/ABC.html & www.mtgprofessor.com/. I am not licensed in KS, however I can originate mortgages in MO (although I have never actually closed a loan there). If I ever end up getting a customer from that state I will definitely contact you for the appraisal work. I just recently had my website optimized for the search engines and I am already starting to see increased traffic so this will no doubt bring in customers for all over the country. Mainly by business now comes from the New England states as well as NY, NJ, FL and a few others. Hopefully this will expand so I can take advantage of my company's multi-state licensing. If you don't mind just so I have it on file can you email me your company info including fee structure, counties served, contact info, etc.? You can send it to ddillon@mortgagemasterinc.com. Talk to you later.

D. I'm glad you run an honest operation. I've got to say that it seems like 50% of the deals that are thrown my way are questionable or involve pressure. It's very difficult to find clients that want just a little integrity. To be honest, I'm so disgusted with the whole thing that I'm considering not renewing my license this year.

Dawg,
Wow that bad huh? That is a real shame. You know what really makes me scratch my head is how these banks/lenders are actually approving these loans. I mean when I submit a loan file my underwriters check the appraisal throughly. Even more so now because our local market has leveled off and in some areas we are actually seeing a slight decrease in values. It does not happen often but I have had a few loans that were denied due to the appraisal (either lack of good comps or the underwriter just not feeling the value was supported). The underwriters here are pretty strict because we process, approve and fund all of our loans in-house which means after the loan closes the bank/lender we sell the loan to re-underwrites the whole file including the appraisal. If they don't like something they will not purchase the loan and we are stuck with it (not something that makes the owner very happy). Overall we have very conservative underwriters so even if there was a situation where the loan officer and appraiser were trying to get by with bogus values it would never make it past the underwriter. What shocks me is that this type of thing is happening because you would think the underwriters and banks/lenders would not let it fly. They have to turning a blind eye to it in some cases. Anyway enough said on that subject. I hope you decide to renew your license though. If you don't what business will you get into? Maybe become a scoot dealer?
Dave

The loan officers push it. The underwriters ask for more comps...blah blah. They really need to change it to where loan officers on commission aren't selecting the appraisers. Anyway, like you said, enough on the subject....this is a scooter board.

Thanks ACD,
It can be a very demanding job, but a very rewarding one (hugs and kisses from two pretty girls!)
I have to come clean and admit that I am in this forum under somewhat false colors; I am investigating scooters with an eye toward purchasing one for my wife. I currently have a V-Strom 650 and a Burgman 650 for myself. From what I have seen so far, this is one of the friendliest forums around.

Woodlark yes it is.....A Burgman and a V-strom very nice! Nothing false about your intentions with those rides!.. Let us know a little about your wife, what she likes for style, and your budget and we'll see if we can help you pick something! Post a new thread in the general section!

So, back in the old days, I owned a private ambulance company south of Boston. When I grew up I worked for an ambulance manufacturer in Kansas City. When I got too old for that, I sold Geely scooters in my window tint shop in Las Vegas. Now that I'm old and worn out, I run a large medical transportation company in Albuquerque. Soon, they will put me out to pasture on my new Tank 250 that I'm going to get from Lee!

Monique,
They are mixed breed (got them from a rescue group). They have wiry hair. While they are sisters, they probably had different fathers as they look somewhat different and have very different temperments. Dixie, the larger of the two looks exactly like the dog that starred in the movie "Because of Winn-Dixie" she has a much calmer personality than her sister. Pixie, the smaller one (about 25 lb) probably has jrt in her ancestry. She is nuts and cannot stay inactive for more than a couple of minutes. Actually, though, they are both very sweet girls.

Greetings All!
I'm new to this board, but I've gotta say that it looks great. I'm currently a full-time student trying to decide between going for a doctorate in Chiropractic or a teaching certificate. (probably the former!) Before becoming a student, I was a Massage Therapist for 18 years. I've also done Singing telegrams and various other strange jobs. I've enjoyed the overall tone of this forum. And kudos to javarod for mentioning it on the Yahoo Kymco riders list. I wouldn't be here otherwise. Thanks!

I would think the Chiropractic then would put more money in the bank but the teaching certificate would certainly be easier. Both of them pay more than having some goofey scooter website.
