I don't know if this is the place to intro myself, but here it is anyway. Have been riding for more years than I can remember. Presently have a 1996 kawasaki vulcan clasic 800. One beautiful ride, but it's a bike. Owned a helix from 1993 to 96. Now THAT was my best ride, period. And that's why I am here. Took the little bugger from Cody Wy to California and back twice. Never had as much fun on two wheels as on those two trips. I still remember going up Baker grade one summer evening, getting sprayed by anti freeze from over heated cars, while my little red scoot kept plugging along doing 65 mph. I'm coming back to the fold fellow riders, back to where the fun really is. Been reading a lot of the fourms and am big time impressed! Keep scooten, I will be in the pack this spring.

I guess this is the proper place to start. I have a couple of bikes but got the bug for a scooter at the 2007 Americade. Test drove 2 Kymcos and a couple of Bergmans. Just bought a commuter 250 a month ago and have already put 280 miles on it. This looks to be a great forum, hope I can contribute as much as I get out of it. Its nice to have such a resource. Look forward to hooking up with everyone. I love riding my scooter.
Keep riding...

Hi folks. I'm new to the scootin' thing but I've been riding big bikes all my life. My wife has slowed down a lot health wise and I decided that this is something we can do together, other than fishing, etc. I initially bought her a Sunl 150 and have since decided (after much reading up and realizing that it may not be the safest thing out there...) that I will keep that one to putter with. I have now bought her a Piaggio Fly 150 and I feel a whole lot better about things. We live in southern NH, so after the ice floes go, probably August :-) we'll start scootin'. This whole experience has been rather different. I ordered from ATVdiscounters and it hasn't been the nightmare that I was led to believe. I am not done however, so we'll see. My wife is really pumped to get that Piaggio out though, so things are definately looking up! I look forward to this forum and all your helpful advice.
One thing I have looked for is the engine oil. 15/40 I heard? That's the same as the oil in my classic VW Bug. Shell Rotella (diesel) 15w40. Works great in my 74 and 77 because there's no filter in those either. Thanks for all the good insightful reading.

Hey, y'all. New to this board. Retired and live in central SC. My first two wheel purchase was a Linhai Main Street 260 about 2-1/2 years ago. After numerous problems with it, I got a great deal on a Kymco P250 a few months later and have been riding it ever since. Still have the Linhai and one of these days I'll put it back together and put some miles on it since all the problems have been repaired. I hope so, at least. I've already found some good info here about parts availability and dealers and look forward to participating in some of the discussions.

I am new to this, I just recently bought a motofino mfqt150-10d, its a 150 cc scooter that can go up to 65mph, although I havent tried it yet. I have only put 10 miles on it, since I don't have a tag yet. I hope it turns out to be a decent bike, what does anybody out there know about motofinos?

Has anyone out there purchased a lance duke 250? How is the fit and finish? And have you had any problems with it?. I have one on order and it's due to arrive on march 31st. I also bought a dot full face modular helmet and have received it already, and am very pleased with it so far. Hope to hear some replies.

Welcome to the dawgpound glennbob... Never heard of skedaddlescooters.com before myself, but others may have, check the thread 'Dealer, good and Bad', or try the search feature found at the top of the page... A good number of folks have the Lance Duke 250, and other Lance scooters, again you can check out that particular scooter with the search engine, or peruse the 250cc and up thread... most folks find just going through existing posts to be a great to learn about all the 'specific' stuff common to the ChiCom scooter world... example would be hat the Lance Duke 250 DESIGN is produced by a number of different manufacturers/assemblers and sold under a lot of different names. Again, welcome and do keep us posted on how your ride treats you!

Thanks for the warm welcome! My scooter is about 45 minutes away at a trucking terminal so I am waiting for it to be delivered. It should be here by Monday or Tuesday I hope. I may even go pick it up tomorrow if I can get a hold of them to arrange it. I just hope its not a nightmare of problems. So far it seems like most of the problems are minor, but you never know. I will let you all know what happens when I get it here and ready to ride.

My new scoot arrived on Monday as expected. It was not damaged at all from shipping, but it has a few scuffs here and there, none that are bad enough to worry about. I took soome of the body panels apart and checked things over pretty well and did not find anything kinked or loose either. It took some time to put the trunk, windshield and mirrors on but I managed to get it all together okay thanks to the great instruction manual "NOT" It did come with a decent owner's manual that is printed in english and has some of the maintanance info and specs. My scoot arrived right when the delivery people said it would and later after the mail came I also received the MSO paperwork so I am all ready to get the title and plates for it on Wed. I did sneak a couple short rides down the road and was pleased with the performance so far, all 10 miles of it. Right after I finished putting it together I also received a call from Mike @ skedaddlescooters.com asking me if I received the scooter yet and if so was everthing in one piece. From what I have read about the online sellers I didn't expect to hear from them after the purchase, maybe they are one of the good ones. I used some Liquid Crystal polish on it and got rid of most of the scuffing and made it shine nice. The mirror's suck but I can make some new hardware to mount them for better adjustability. It has a light to let me know when my cell phone is ringing but I'm not sure if its working yet. Has anyone had any luck with that option? Right now I just want to get it on the road and enjoy riding it and saving some gas money. I bought mine for $1.999 and got a free full face modular helmet that matches the scoot for free, also with free shipping with residential delivery and liftgate service. When and if I have a problem then I will seee if they are any good. I will keep you all updated as I get it broke in.

Hi Everybody! I am new here too. I have had 1 motorcycle type scooter as a kid, and 4 motorcycles. I now have a Lance Venice 150, my 1st real scooter. I bought it from a new dealer here in town, they barely had their doors open. I got a very good deal on it. I ride it to work every day. I don't "hammer" the throttle, because it isn't broken in yet. I used Amzoil in my last Harley-Davidson and in my cars. Does anyone have any experience using it in a small scooter? I measured when I did my first gasoline fill up, and it got over 100 MPG. Does this sound correct? I like this board, and I think I am going to enjoy reading it. Does anyone know of a scooter club in Pinellas County, FL?

Greetings everyone!
You guessed it--I'm another "fledgling scootie"! (I hear those moans!)
In light of rapidly climbing gas prices, I became open-minded to purchasing a scooter, to get me to-and-fro work. I was looking for one that was street-legal and one large enought to carry a passenger (my 10 yr. old).
Then, I saw this scooter (used). It appeard to meet my all my requirements and fit my budget--a '07 Roketa Bali 150 (2,200 mi.) Looked in great shape, pleasing to the eye, sounded and tested OK. I passed my written motorcycle test got my temp. permit and immediatley drove it a local scooter-shop and spent about $90 to have it professionally evaluated and serviced (maintence). The scooter mechanic said it appeared to have been well-taken care of and was in good shape.
However, on the way home, it died on me twice--a distance of about 12 miles. I'm glad I had someone following me home with a car! It seems to have a problem holding a battery charge. And I remember the guy I bought it from was charging it up before he gave it to me--he said he left the key in the ignition, and it had drained the battery...hhmmm...
Is it normal to have to charge the battery about every other night? That's what it appears to be needing right now. Do I have to hook it up to the charger every night to insure it will have enough charge to last a day? Don't know what the norm is. (I've never left the key in the ignition by accident) I have only had it for about two weeks now.
Both times, when it died. it was right after I came to a complete stop, like at a stop-light. It gradually just kind of died. Perhaps a gas issue? Should I only use the high-octane gas? Buy a new new battery--to eliminate the variables? There's a 12-volt battery in it now. Perhaps a more powerful battery or is that not recommended?
I'm hoping these are minor issues and I that I didn't purchase someone eles's continuing headache. If anyone out there is experienced with owning a Roketa Bali 150, I would appreciate some experienced insight on this. I've read some really good and some not so good comments about Roketta--mostly new purchases. Would appreciate some "collective" wisdom from those who have had them over a year or so.
I'd really love to get to the point of riding for enjoyment and to have reliable transportation.
Thanks for listening to my rant...

Guess I'm new here too....and to scootin'. I assumed it would be fun but it's far exceeded my expectations. I took my scooter to work today for the first time and it was a blast. (owned it for about 2 1/2 weeks now and just got my license on Friday) It's a 20 mile round trip but I figure I might make that trip a little longer just so I can ride some more. Being in Austin, we have nice weather nearly all year long (except for the days it rains 3 inches and the one day it gets cold). Otherwise, I'm looking for more ways to ride and stay out of the cage. I have a picture on another post ( scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=pics&thread=7373&page=5#71414). Great forum.

Hi all, I am new to this group and would like to introduce myself. I have been two wheeling for more years than I like to admit but left the two wheel world several years ago. Now due to the current world situation I find it necessairy to return. I have ordered a Linhai Mainstreet 300 from Bandit and am looking forward to receiving it. I have maintained several motorcycles over the years but suspect that I may need some assistance in regard to this new purchase. I believe that I have come to the right place for help if needed.

hi all New to this group been riding for 4 years now, love to mod things (tim taylor complex i guess) especially engines and electricals. Have a wildfire 50cc now with a 72cc kit, been through 1 engine ( a grass covered rock killed it) and 1 cylinder/head (glad melenium motor sports in fort wayne is out of biz the freakin scammers) due to valves having -0.010 clearance (yes i said negative and that was fixed almost the same day) and the carb set waaaaaaay to lean. before the first met mr green rock i had it modded using modified stock parts and discount rigups (lead sinkers, epoxy, and duct tape) to go 50 on a flat (no joke, used radar sign to clock). read through the 50cc up forums thoroughly and liked what i am seeing. been part of 2 stroke boards before (what lead me here) trying to get a junk nu50 (lost cause) working and hoping i could find something that i could use on my scoot..
glad to be here and have learned alot in a few days of reading

Hey All, Pretty kewl site here. I'm from S.W. of the Kansas City area. Been riding since I was 7. Parents used to run a motorcycle park down in the Wichita area back in the early 70's. I've decided to get my wife and I a pair of scooters to ride together, so I've been doing some homework. Haven't decided on what we are going to get yet though, but this place is a wealth of knowledge. Glad to be here.

New Kid on the Block (and no I don't sing). Howdy! Just picked up a Honda Reflex 2002 last night (Page AZ to LAS Vegas to Page in one afternoon, 550 miles) in my truck and got it reg. today. Haven't ridden anything in 40 yrs. Last ride was a Honda 450, 2 lunger. Have been lurking here for months watching the flow of comments. Was going to go with Scooter Dynasty for a 250cc scoot but found this Reflex on craigslist after exposing a scammer on a Yamaha scoot. Did my "due diligence" and exposed the scam before any money changed hands. 7000 miles and runs good. It has been slid so the plastics have scratches but that can be fixed in the future. I'll be back.

Hi gang! New to the board, this is my first post. I've been reading it for some time trying to gather enough information to make the plunge and did so last weekend when I placed an order for a Linhai 300 from Bandit MotorSports in Eugene. Jim Johnson spent a good deal of time and patience with me going through a list of questions I had regarding the bike and I felt really comfortable making the deal, especially after reading the tremendous wealth of information I found on this board... To introduce myself my name is Bill I'm 52 and haven't been on a bike or scooter in almost 25 years. Last bike I owned was a 750 night hawk and rode that year round in the Tacoma/Seattle area for about three years. My interests are are varied - I'm a licensed pilot and own a 1978 Piper Tomahawk simply for sport. My occupation is electronics repair and my shop is situated just off my home. I wanted a scooter, like most, for the fuel economy and excitement. I live in a coastal community near the Pacific Ocean and the area is mostly rural. So I am anticipating using the scoot for those service calls loaclly that don't require me hauling the unit in for repair. I am hoping to be VERY familiar with it by the end of the summer.. I'd like to thank several of you guys out there who have the Linhai 300 for all your detailed posts and information. It being a Chineese scoot had me VERY concerned and your posts really helped dispell most of the rumors, conjecture and misinformation I had gathered regarding the "off-brand" bike. I expect delivery probably Monday or Tuesday 6/9-10/08 and I'm in no hurry to fully inspect the machine before signing off on the drop.. First things I plan to do is change out the coolant, plug and go through checking all the fluids and connections after I get it assembled. I've already looked at some of the lighting mods and have my eye on a couple of upgrades I found from reading the posts on this board. Well that's long enough - or maybe too long already - who is this long winded idiot we have here. Anyway, thanks again guys I'll post some when I get the bike. Bill

Hi everyone. First want to say what a cool site! Thanks for all those who make it possible. I'm Dan from Ohio. I just purchased a 2008 Roketa MC13 250. I'm new to the scooter world and also to this kind of computer stuff, so just learning my way around. I'm hoping I made a good purchase. I got it from a local dealer who also does the service, Affordable ATVS, LLC in Mansfield, OH. They seemed like nice folks. I have a few questions:
1. Where do I find PDI? It sounds like that is the thing to read to get started? 2. Do you need to have paypal to purchase the online stuff? 3. Is there any info or manuals for the Roketa MC13250, or how do I find it?
Thanks again for being here, and helping us newbe's as we boldly go....................
Dan

My wife and I are looking at getting a couple of scooters. I'm 6'4" and almost 300lbs (big boy), my wife is 5'4. Any recommendations or suggestions? We live in Southeast Iowa not close to any large city or scooter dealers that I'm aware of. On a side note we lived in KC for 6yrs and go back there several times a year, love the BBQ and Tanner's Bar and Grill! I've read Dawgs forum on the QLink Achilles and am very interested in it but know I would not fit on that.

Hi, there,
I live in the United Kingdom and hope you can help. I am trying to find out if anyone has any ideas how to improve the performance on a new Znen Flash 50cc scooter that I have just bought for my son-it's so slow pulling away!! I have looked on various UK scooter forums and theres no info directly aimed at this bike and I don't want to start cutting wires and stripping carbs yet unless I'm sure. Any help would be gratefully received.
(Good forum by the way!)
Cheers,
Jerry
