Utah drivers should have been on there. The SUV driving self-absorbed mofo is the worst.

Basically, there is no SAFE driver... All drivers are a hazard to be watched... Remember, your INVISIBLE.. YOu have to watch EVERYONE ALL THE TIME! I drive a monstrous Modified E-150 Van, It is basically larger than an e-350 as it needs to carry allot of crap, and hauls my ladders, and such.. I drive a BIG van, anyway, People still don't always see ME, and I'm HUGE! well, my van is.. ok, I am too.... anyway, what I'm getting at is no matter how diligent anyone is, they still screw up sometimes.. I myself have been the cause of an accident, and I myself having been a rider for years, and priding myself on my ability to see a bike anytime anywhere, pulled out in front of a guy in a parking lot.. I just didn't see him.. I felt like crap.. he was cool about it.. we didn't collide, but it was close.. Parking lot so noone was going fast.. If it had been the road, ouch.. then again, who knows I might have seen him better, Different factors, but that is beside the point.. THe point is, noone is safe, and everyone is the most dangerous driver on the road.. keep that in your mind, and you'll be better off.. TRUST NOONE!! ;p

Here in AZ we get a ton of snow birds from out of state every winter. Most are decent drivers but some are lost, hard of hearing, hard of seeing, and/or too old to even be behind the wheel and do very dangerous things. I have seen them run red lights and drive half the speed limit. They seem to be the worst around here.

Did anyone notice the wording in the poll? The drivers were called mom, teenager, rider, driver, commuter....idiot. While I'm not debating that commuters talking on their cell phones are unsafe, I do believe that the wording used does have the ability to effect people's decisions. travis Actually in my opinion anyone including myself talking on a cell phone while driving is an idiot and I was being stereotypical in my poll choices In Illinois it is illegal for anyone under 18 to talk and drive and I do believe that covers handsfree also. In Chicago and many "adapting" cities, it is becoming illegal unless it's hands free.

Ok, the driver I found while riding home on the scoot last week (the last day it was warm enough and dry enough to ride <sigh>), driver in a Hummer (figures) with two cell phones, one in each ear and a newspaper covering the steering wheel. Either steering with his knees or not steering, hard to tell. Bill H. Had I seen this guy, and had my phone with me, I'd have called the police. I live in a county with a very high retired/elderly population. I would have to say that elderly drivers are the worst, on an average. Of course, there's nothing more dangerous than a testosterone filled, road raging, SUV driving, a$$hole who's pissed off at the world.

I find the drivers of large SUVs to be particularly bad. It seems like most are either unaware they are in a multi-ton behemoth and think it's a sports car, or drive like they are afraid of their own car! It gets even worse in bad weather like heavy snow, with too many of them driving like idiots and speeding around, forgetting that 4-wheel drive means they can go, but doesn't help them to stop.
I used to work as a courier, driving a small pickup (Ford Ranger). One winter, we had a heavy storm, 23 inches in less than 24 hours, but halfway through it I had to make a hospital run from Philadelphia to a facility on the Jersey shore. Driving along the AC Expressway, I drove along at 25, and would see cars spun out in the ditch almost every mile. 9 out of 10 were SUVs.

I was out West, I think in New Mexico. The road was a sheet of ice. I was driving a large straight truck. We were passed by a Jeep Cherokee going way too fast. A few miles later I saw it in the median strip on it's roof with a very lucky, bewildered looking woman next to it, literally scratching her head. I guess she rolled it a few times because the contents of her SUV were all over the road. Her stuff was getting run over by other traffic. I think I may have hit a suit case or two.

Here in Western Australia, cab drivers, bus drivers, couriers, truckies, p-plater's (restricted license drivers)... The list goes on. But the worse one I ever saw was, believe it or not, a motorbike cop who decided to pull out from the shoulder in front of my car, er... Cage! Luckily I had good reflexes.... Or is that unlucky? LOL ;D

I live near Harrisburg Pa and 81, 322, 11&15 are all major roadways for big trucks every time I had a prob it was with a big rig! But I am the same way I run a E350 service van and when I pull into traffic or someone is pulling in beside me they will stay in my blind spots. They don't slow down or speed up they just stay their until I start coming over. I have found the more a person drives the more they complacent they become and that is when you do not see the other guy. 2nd OLD drivers! yea how could i forget granny stoping at a yeild sign then trying to pull out in a 65! Why don't they make you retake your test every time you get a new photo?! i would gladly do that ! bgray - I worked in the Burg for 6 1/2 years before I retired. Came home on weekends then back down during the week. I stayed outside Middlesex and traveled 81 every day. The trucks were bad but I think the worst was a soccer mom in her SUV - talking on cell phone, dvd playing for the kids. She passed me a couple times on the on ramp from Wertzville Road. Maybe a tie with the idiot kid I saw every morning and night on a crotch rocket, weaving thru traffic at 85, no signals, minimal gear even in the rain & dark.

I picked out of state/foreigners. In my town Im also a delivery driver and I feel like when you have that job you get to know the town intimately. Where the road is rough, where you can speed, all the shortcuts, and what to be prepared for in general. OOS/Fs are so annoying to drive around because theyre so concerned figuring out where they are they dont notice the line of cars behind them that cant get by.
Also in my town, the roads were designed by crackheads, so there are LOTS of one way streets. I have been in a situation of having another car in my lane, headed straight for me! Once I was almost hit!
The irony is: Normal is a college town so about half its population are OOS/Fers.

Well I have one that isn't on there, and it takes the cake in my opinion. I am from California, but I live in Lebanon, Missouri. The thing that I am seeing a lot in this town is people who read their mail while driving-- no kidding! I have complained constantly. I have even been known to physically yank the mail out of their hands and refuse to give it back-- and I am not the sort of person who would usually violate a person's space like that.
When I complain, guess what they say? (This is pitiful.) They say, "That's only true if you don't know what you're doing." How's that for an all-purpose excuse?
It's enough to give anyone a heart attack, and these people think it's normal. Of course, they think a lot of twisted things are normal around here...

Yes, idiots on cell phones bother me alot, but a tailgater irratates me more. It gives me an uncomfortable feeling. It makes one look out his or her rearview mirror more, it makes one wonder why they don't pass in a safe zone, it make me think what if I have a blow out( will the driver be able to stop). The person on a cell phone I don't worry about, but the guy on my butt, worries me.

I am originally from Michigan with many months of SNOW!!! And upon moving down to Florida in a state that barely if ever see's snow. And these Florida drivers are NUTS! Cutting people off on the freeway, cutting over 5 lanes of traffic. And generally driving like a bunch of maniacs.
I can also understand the food eater. But I had a pretty sweet setup when I lived with my sister. We both worked at the same place at the same time so we would ride home and as im driving she would get my food ready and hand it to me so I could keep both hands on the wheel. Only difference was we had mostly highway driving at night so we did not have a lot of traffic.
I strictly believe that everyone should take there drivers test in Michigan, during a February blizzard. We would see if they try and drive like a maniac like that again. I think not.

I will say this out of experience of riding motorcycles for over thirty years. Ride like everyone is out to get you. Wear bright items and a helmet, go by the boy scout rule, be prepared.....always be ready for a worse case incident and have a sure fire way to get out safely. you dont grow old being a fool"....

Take your pick.......women drivers, women with kids in their vehicle, women on cell phones, women with cell phones/kids/make-up in progress/etc. I say that because females with few exceptions, seem to place safe driving last on their list of priorities. Put a woman in a big van/SUV driving her kids somewhere, and if you're anywhere near her on a scooter, your life is in grave danger. I'm serious......and I've got scars to prove it.
