Hi everyone, I don't know about you, but I'm too old to change my screen resolution to more than 1024x768, and at this size, there are many posts here that have a VERY LONG url and makes my screen twice as wide, so I have to SCROLLLLLLLLLLLL ---> all the way over to the right to see the entire post. For those of you interested, there is a simple way to modify the tag for a url so that just a word appears on the screen instead of a long url. Here's a pic of the instructions (you only have to change one thing): Hope this helps!

The forum software still has trouble with the big long URL links. I like to use www.tinyurl.com a lot for those links. It appears that if the URL length exceeds something like 80 characters or 128 characters it gets truncated, with the remainder not highlighted. The Dynamic URLs that are generated by some websites are a problem not matter what you do, as you have to start at the main page and work your way down, you can't just jump right to the page you are wanting to.

Ok, since I like this topic and think others will find it useful, at least until one of us feels like writing a proper tutorial (me in a day or three after I recover from this week if no one else).

No problem, it is a interesting topic, as I have been burned by the extra long URL's too. The format for embedding a URL link with associated text is a little different as compared to some other forum sites too. So that is nice to know. Thanks to 250mc54.

Well lets try a biggie Mapquest Url then: Cafe Express Dallas TexasTiny Url versionHummm, I guess that overloaded it then. Anyway I really liked it when you figured out the proper syntax for it. Another forum software package uses a different format, and of course there is the regular html url format too. Thanks

Earl,
It's standard BBB code and can be used on any board. Many of the standard tags have just been forgotten.
Oh, and thanks for driving this topic off the screen!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
