Make flyers and take them to local scooter dealerships and see if they will let you post them in the shop.
Keep a few flyers or cards with you when you are out and about and when you see a scooter parked somewhere, stick it on the handlebar with a rubberband.

Accept all scooterists. I was contacted the other day by a club. They asked if I would like to come and check them out. If I like them they would like me to join because they knew that eventually I would buy a real scooter. (bigger engine, metal and italian) Man I like my halloween scooter and I'm not giving it up.

A great technique is to schedule a regular ride for yourself. Always start from the same coffee shop. Invite people to join you.

Free website resources include Google Sites and Talkspot. Use a shorter re-direct URL such as snurl.com/___ for print media (business cards, flyers, newspaper articles). To take detail OUT of an image to make a more "generic" flyer or website header image, use a cartoonizer such as BeFunky . . example: Also consider posting meeting/event information on your regional craigslist > for sale > motorcycles. Although motorcycle/scooter related, since the posting is not an actual "for sale" item, the posting may get "flagged down" by others . . so you may have to re-post. Another free classified resource is Kijiji. Some TV station websites also offer free classifieds . . Utah example.

Are there local chapters of the "gang" we have here? Meaning, locally I don't have any scooter clubs. There is one group that calls itself a scooter club, but it appears to be a group of about 5 vespasnobs. I'm not anti vespa, I'm anti snob. I'm also well past my drink until you puke then drink more then drive home days, also. (don't get me wrong, I likes me some beer.) I thought the Moped Army concept of local chapters was an interesting idea. And since chinariders are taking over the scooter world anyways, we should be organized.
Just an idea......

Making decals for your scoot is a good idea as well. I haven't tried this for a scooter club, but for my car site. Myself and 3-4 friends had large decals on our windshields or rear windows with my site name in a nice looking font (not just the generic www.mysitesucks.com in white). I got a lot of emails asking about it and I noticed that site traffic would increase when we were cruising more. We all had modified hot rods and pony cars so people would notice the decals more because of that. So if you are serious about a club, maybe try a decal on at least your scoot and do something to set your scooter apart. If I were looking for someone to talk to about scoots, I would approach someone with modifications first. My reasoning for that... if you have customized your scoot it is likely that you are really into it. Just a couple of thoughts.

Start riding regular. When you see a scooterist ask them if they are in a club and if they would like to start one. The regualr coffie runs are a real winner.

I think I'll start with craigslist. Then think up a cute name, like the Anti-snob Scooter Club. But really, I'd love to have other enthusiasts. Kind of late in the season this year, but it's never too late!

That is great! But yeah.... I'm thinking a different name would be a great idea. Actually, I went and peeked in the window of the new Vespa dealership here in town and saw a flyer someone put up to start a club, so I think I'll email him and see what we can start.

In my small town, I know for a fact there are only 2 other scooter cruizers. I am not from this area, they are...so no rides with them. My Chinese generic is not classy enough for their Burgmans (spelling may be wrong). I am so ready to move back to civilization again.

I have 5 friends because of scooters. so what I did for us was make this skyline patch with 5 stars to signify the founding 5 of the RuckStars. and the state outline patch for outside members that ride with us from time to time. Another thing I did was get scooter club cards made up. So when I see a rider on the road I can hand them a card and they got all the info they need to find us. I didnt wait around to see if I could join a club I put my money into it and called on friends to help it grow. We have been around for about a year now and I think we got a good number and verity of riders with us. Setting up a Facebook group page really helped out well so we can setup ride events. Its been fun and I dont see it stopping anytime soon.

Oh another good way to get riders is to talk to your local scooter/motorcycle dealership. I know mine have bulletin boards so you can post flyers, cards, whatever you got to post and the noobs can see whats up.

Smorkle,
I don't know where Gladstond, MO is, but I am about 105 mi. south of Branson and would love to ride with other scooterists occasionally. Of course I ride at the STO Rally at Eureka Springs, AR in Sept. but that leaves about April to October with no scooter rides except for a trip or two up to St Louis to ride with some friends there.
There are only 15 scooters in this area, and 14 of them are mine, so I don't have many riding partners here. I usually ride a motorcycle with the other local bikers - - - we have plenty of them. Just for the Hell of it, I did lay out a nice 195 mile ride through some of our Ozark twisties and led 18 motorcycles on it while riding one of my scooters ('87 Honda Helix).
Anyhoo, how far are you from Branson or Eureka Springs? I could always hop on a Helix and meet up with you, and any other scooters or bikes that wanted to join in, and tool along for a couple hundred miles through the South MO & N AR Ozarks. Maybe we can start a "MO-ARK Border Scooter Club"
Of course I'll see you at STO.

also keep in mind that not every on has a big scooter. so when settting up rides that you have to let the little one keep up too.
