My only complaint so far with my Xciting 250 is the speedometer. It reads 80mph when my GPS says I'm only going 60mph. The dealer put in a new speedometer and the second one reads the same. I checked the tire size, and it's as specified. When I bought the scoot, the speedometer needle was on the wrong side of the 0-peg. That's why the dealer agreed to swap it out, but after a few days it jumped over the peg, and a few weeks later the new speedometer arrived and was installed. The other problem is that the mph numbers are dark red on a black background. Even with my glasses on, the numbers are almost impossible to see without perfect lighting, and nearly impossible to see at night.
Has anyone else on this forum checked their Kymco speed with a GPS?

I agree on the red numbers, can't see them easily and at night, forget it. I am going to put on an after market back lighted mph-tac-temp unit. $ 119. This is on the people 250-S scooter.

I mounted a Tom Tom One (V3) GPS to mine yesterday and did some tests. I had to put the GPS unit just to the left of the speedo using duck tape because my hard mount has not arrived yet. OK, at 40mph indicated I was doing a GPS of 36. At 50 indicated it was doing GPS 45. At indicated 60 was doing GPS 55. At 70 indicated was doing GPS 64. At 80 indicated it was doing GPS 75. Did not want to go WOT..but was probably very near at 80 indicated. This is on the plain People 250, not the S. I agree that the speedo is difficult to see especially thru the tinted faceplate on my helmet but I do manage. Sorry to hear about your temperature problem Johnnyscoot. I can hear the driving directions being given by the GPS very easily. I use the verbal instructions more than the visual ones now that I have gotten a fix that my speedo is about 5 MPH overkill. Let me know results of overheating problem please. Joe
