Well, I finally did it. For those that don't know, I was a "real" bike rider(Kawasaki ZR-7S) hanging out in this scooter Forum. I had been researching scooters, though, really hard. After much looking and searching, I found a used 2005 Yamaha Majesty with 4100 miles on it, for $3750. Not bad for a Scoot that sells new for about $6000. It's dark gray metallic, not my favorite color, but I can live with it. Now, if I can just convince Mrs. Termite to park the minivan on those single person trips..... Kudos to Scooter Lizard, for all her advice and help. Were it not for her, I probably would have just thrown in the towel, said "screw it for scooters", and just spent the money on custom hard saddle bags and hard tail bag on the ZR-7S. Dawg, Give Scooter Lizard some karmas, if you please. The Termite

Alright termite! I have had my Majesty for about four months and love it. I too, was a full blown motorcycle guy (well not "crotch rockets" but as big as a Goldwing and couple of "V" twins) since I was a wee lad. The Majesty has great pick-up and nice ride on the interstates. I have added the Givi trunk and Yamaha backrest for my wife and changed to "cruiser" windshield for the highway.
Welcome aboard the Majesty train and good luck with the new scoot!

Termite, I'll bet you quickly discover the pleasure of the convienience of the scooter and fall in love with it. I think scoot's have it all over "regular" motorcycles for commuting through traffic without fussing about shifting and being able to throw your lunch or mail or whatever under the seat and go really makes scooters commuter and errand friendly.
Congrats on landing a great scoot. I considered a used Majesty myself but then found the 06 Morphous and I preferred that styling so I went with it. But so far, I've no regrets.

Nice scoot Termite, sounds like a good deal too...
Hey, I got my wife riding and got rid of complaining a few years ago by forcing her to "go round the block and try it". Since then, she's on her 2nd 150 and we go riding almost every weekend, especially now that the weather is rider perfect in Louisiana. We're thinking of giving the 150 to my youngest son for school and upgrading her to a 250.
We've been as far east as Destin, and as far west as San Antonio (we're in New Orleans)... taking the scenic highways of course, and she just loves it!
Good luck with the new scoot!

Yesterday evening I stopped and picked up a 12-pack of Coke, a loaf of bread, and a 6-pack of beer. It all fit under the seat. Amazing. ;D

I have added the Givi trunk and Yamaha backrest for my wife and changed to "cruiser" windshield for the highway. Welcome aboard the Majesty train and good luck with the new scoot! A Givi trunk with backrest and reflector kit is in the works. I like the stock windshield, but it currently has a boo-boo on it where the sales staff at the car lot put the "For Sale" sign. I hope "Goo Gone" or some other solvent will take it off, without damaging the screen. I checked on a stock Yamaha replacement screen: $300 plus shipping!! Are they crazy?!?! I can get a Givi windshield that is BIGGER for a lot less.

Be carefull with solvents and goo gone on clear plastics..they can haze them over.
I cleaned cars and such for over eight years now and just elbow grease a towel and windex will get it off.

Termite, Try Rick Roush Accessories. I purchased a Yamaha Cruiser windshield for less than $195.00 including shipping. They carry all the Yamaha accessories at 30% off. I also purchased the Yamaha backrest and trunk with the backrest. Everything has come packaged in Yamaha factory boxes and the service and delivery has been great.

Monty, Can you give me the L-W-H of the Yamaha trunk? I'm looking at a Givi, which is big enough to hold two full face helmets, but it's over $200, plus another $95 for the mounting plate. And another $65 for a color-matched lid. $80 for a back pad. And $25 for a reflector kit. Yikes....... Stan, Thanks a bunch for that link. Loewer Power Sports in Cenla can kiss my a$$ now. I just spent $18 for 4 screws, 2 washers, and 1 lock nut from them. Thanks again. Termite

termite, It is basically the second to the largest Givi trunk. Even though it was in a Yamaha box. It came with two self adhesive emblems. One Give and one Yamaha. The instruction were also from Givi. You could fit two 3/4 helmets but I am not sure about two full ones. I have put a 12 pack of water, 6 pack of soda, 1/2 gallon of milk and quite a few groceries with no problem. Here is the link. www.rickroushaccessories.com/store/index.php/cPath/36_355Rick Roush has the trunk with reflectors for $155, the bracket for $82.40 the backrest pad for $31.40 and the Yamaha backrest for $78.50. They do not offer a matching color lid but I felt the black contrasted well with my silver scoot.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Yamaha trunk, mounting plate, and trunk back pad from Yamaha Sports Plaza. Their prices were very good, except for shipping. I thought $60 was a little high for shipping those three items.
Monty,
The trunk does have reflectors, not just a red plastic decorative lens, correct?

Well, it's been a while, so I thought I'd give an update. Mrs. Termite was both pleased and annoyed. She's not totally opposed to the idea of herself on a bike, just surprised, and will need some time to get adjusted to the idea. I'm lining up the MSF basic course for her in December. As for myself, I've been riding the Majesty instead of my Kawi ZR-7S(ZR-750), and I'm getting downright lazy....... Last night my eldest daughter and I rode the Kawi to our local high school football game. I have been riding the Majesty. Guess what happened at the first redlight? I've been riding bikes for over 20 yrs, and I forgot to downshift! Light turns green, we start to go, and staaalllll...I'm cranking the bike, while downshifting thru 5 gears as fast as I can, with a 14yr old daughter going... "DAAAAD! You're embarrassing me!" And to top it all off, our school lost the game....... Egads......

Hey you Majesty dawgs, What's the top end on your scoots? The bottom end on the Burger 400 is not much better than my Eurojet up to about 30 MPH, but after that it's all Burger. From 50 MPH up the Burger is a rocket. Top speed on the Burger is 93 MPH, the Eurojet is 67 MPH with all the right conditions.

Sorry for not responding to all the questions, but I have not had any time the last two weeks for anything but work and sleep. Glad they are over. I'll try to answer all.
scooterlizard,
Yes, I did change the grips. I have some joint issues in my fingers and like a bigger diameter grip. The are by Road Hawk and are the soft sponge type.
termite,
I am not sure of the difference. They are a separate lens type reflector fastened to the rear of the case. There is no additional light kit available for this model that I know of.

I believe my speedometer reads a bit high, maybe 5 mph or so, but I've seen 80-85 indicated. Scooter Lizard may know, I think she said she has seen 100 indicated. Do we have any Majesty owners who will volunteer to top out their scooter while passing a LEO running traffic radar? ;D

Hey Termite, Just popped back in to the Dawg forum and was reading your comments on the Majesty. I have had mine (an 07') for a year now and have really enjoyed it. We moved to Western NC this summer and the roads here are quite different than Florida. The Maj handles the Parkway and the other snaky routes with ease. Not as stable as the big bikes I have owned, but a reasonable compromise with adequate power and as mentioned, a ton of usable storage. The website for these scoots (Majestyusa.com) is a wealth of specific info for this scoot. Combined with the good tips here, we sure have an advantage over those who lack forums for addressing the scooter questions we all ask. As a former "real" bike rider, I agree with your assessment of this fine machine. The only real "gripe" I had was the narrow view of the mirrors. I solved that with extenders I now make for Majesty forum members. You can see them on the majusa forum in my gallery section under the username "Imn2scootin'". Scoot safe and keep us posted on your experience with your "Royal Ride".

I have had mine up to 95mph by the speedo and still climbing. I have not checked the speed with a GPS yet so I am not sure how accurate the speedo is.

Mine is about 2 to 3 mph. off. I have topped out at 105 and that's as far as I want to take it. Even at that speed there is still had some left. It has the power to run interstate if needed. I rode to St. Augustine over the weekend and it did very well between 70 and 80. I have added cruise control(throtle lock) to it to reduce hand and shoulder fatigue as well. For a thumper it is very impressive machine to ride.

scooterlizard,
How's it going? I have been thinking about a cruise control and have a few questions.
What throttle lock system did you install? Did you have to make any modification to the scoot? Will it work with aftermarket grips?

We started scooter training for Mrs. Termite on Monday. Went all over the bike, switches, controls, oil dipstick, etc. Then did some go-stop-gos, and a couple of turn-arounds. Tuesday(yesterday) we did more go-stop-gos, and low speed turns. Finished up with her riding around the subdivision(25mph zone) by herself with me following her on the Kawi ZR-7S ;D . More training to follow. Guys and gals, I'll post pics whenever I get a digital camera.....yeah, yeah, I know...... EDIT: Almost forgot. Got the Yamaha trunk and mount in, and installed it. Looks pretty good. It's a 44 liter size, BTW.
