My gas milage dropped a bit the last few weeks, so thought it might be good to check and clean the air filter. Here is what the Viva manual says about the air filter: - Dust is the one of the clause of reducing the horsepower
- The air cleaner is made in paper, and check it and clean it every 2000km. After clean it add equality a little oil.
- Change into termly new air cleaner every 5000 km
OK, so lets check the filter: From the manual: <Way of getting down> 1. Get down the five locked screws in the left rear cover and rear cover, and then get down the seven locked screws. 2. Get down the cover and air cleaner 3. Get down the two located screws of air cleaner 4. Replace the scar of air cleaner.Translation: 1. Remove the rear panel (four screws): 2. Remove the side panel (three screws); 3. Remove the air cleaner cover (5 screws) 4. Remove the air filter (1 screw): You can see the filter is a paper type; I don't think you want to oil it. I blew out what little dirt there was and reinstalled it. To put everything back together: <Way of fixing>
- Operate it according to above contrary ways.
Some other notes from the manual: NOTICE
- Pleas replace it and clean it under ways
- Drive it in the wet days
- Drive it in the dust roadway
Not wanting to make my scooter 'termly ill' I will check the filter again at 10,000 km. Gary

It would seem that the ChiComs would at least hire a competent translator for a couple of hundred bucks! I thought the gibberish we got in the TVs and other electronic stuff was awful! Heck, those are poetry besides the stuff that comes with scooters!

Don't forget to "Replenish Gasoline that has boiling point #90 or over!" and "Indulge in a new sparker if it destroys gas more than useual!"

Gary,
Another good "how to" post. We don't need translators with you showing the way.
