The box on my Viva is the same way - you can't latch it without the key. A real PITA and dumb engineering. So I attached a shock cord to hold the lid closed. Easy open, easy close - I just flip the shock cord over the lid. Cheers, Gary

Hey Phamster, nice job on the box!
I couldn't help but notice the cup holder you've got there, what did you use and how did you set that up? Could you take a pic of that for me?
Thanks!

yea.. i can.. i used a cheap plastic cup holder made for a bicycle ... plastic for bendablity.. so i can get a bigger water bottle in there if i wanted.. but for the basic 16.4 fl oz.. one will still fit.. the cheap plastic was like 3 bux.. and i drilled 2 small datum holes then got a thicker screw for the finish... works great.. i had the same set up on the aprilia scarabeo 150 and used that for 3 years.. only use it when i stop.. i tried unscrewing the bottle while driving and it is dangerous.. phamster

As a people 250 owner I like the bike greatly and have few complaints. I bought mine used with 4300 kilometers on it and now have 7800 k. I have had only a few problems and most caused by previous owner . Toolkit needs improvement and the airbox is oversized ($20 air filter ?) I Have purchased a new top case for a good price on ebay ( $80) from cruiserbackrest. Nice unit with tailights, backrest, lift out nylon canvas case for the interior, and a quick release mount . I recommend the Givi windshield but it needs about 6 to 7 " trimmed off the top. The stock Givi way too tall.

I got the Shad 37 top case and I am very pleased. Construction and quality seems to be very good. There is plenty of room for my helmet and a rain suit. SOrry I have not tried two helmets yet, but I think that would be asking too much from this 37 liter box. The key locks both the cover and the bike latch ... or you can leave it unlocked and open the box without a key. Mounting: The holes in the Kymco's rack and the Shad mounting plate did not line up ... why am I not suprised? A drill motor and 1/4 inch bit resolved that problem. Note that I used the longest screws and left them hanging down from the bottom. That solves another problem: some place to hook bungee cords. Even with the box removed I think that the bike looks better with the mount in place. color me: happy puppy ...

I've been eying the Shad SH 39 Top Case, has a build in top rack as well for, additional cargo on top. I was actually able to see one at a motorcycle shop in Rio during my trip to Brazil last week. They wanted $350 US for it which is over double of what I've seen it on the web in the US for: www.adventuremotousa.com/motorcases.htmNice box though looks better in real than on the picture, seemed to be a tough design, but I doubt it's big enough for two helmets. I'm a few days late here but thought I would put in my experience with my top box. I have a Givi 370 (37) with the brake light and quick release. I wish that I would have ordered the 450 (45) just for a little more space. Givi is a good quality and good looking box but that shad sounds interesting. Clarence.
