Apparently they no longer distribute the ItalKit. The one I received today was made in Tiawan with MRP on the "casting". It does not have a coated cylinder and there are 8 small dimples in the bore finish.
I will have to get the head assembly from the local Kmyco dealer (actually all the pieces parts). Then I can send out the entire lot for coating. I have yet to find a "one stop" shop that can do the cylinder bore, piston, valves and head.

lewtwo,
did you get the kit from scooter trap? What exactly does the ceramic coating do? Do you have to get a new head assembly, is it different to the original or could you reuse the original head?

Yes I got it from Mat ast Scooter trap.
The cyllinder casting is Aluminum and I am sure you know that relatively speaking that is a very soft material. The prefered cylinder coating is "NIKASIL" (nickel and silicon carbide matrix). It provides a harder, smother (less friction), longer wearing surface for the rings to run against. One also wants to coat the piston skirt with a antifriction coating.
Coatings for the combustion chamber, piston dome and valve faces are ceramic thermal transfer inhibitors. This keeps the head, piston and vlases cooler as well as using more combustion heat for conversion to power. It also reduces the tendancy to detonate (ping) so that you can run higher compression.
Lastly the valve springs get get a trermal transfer and low friction coating ... not certain that there is a whole lot of advantage in my appplication, but the addition cost is minor.
I only have to get a new Head assembly if I want to maintain the ability to "return" to the origonal configuration and if I want ot keep riding the bike until all the pieces part are back and installed. I could reuse the orgonal head, but I would need to reface the valves, replace the springs and seals.

I don't know anything about performance upgrades and would have thought that the kit came ready to use and as the head is to be re-used that it is fine as is or they would at least provide what's necessary to complete the upgrade. Sounds like an elaborate process to get it done, besides the installation. Andi
