Hey Dawgs!
Just got back from purchasing a new, 2007 Kymco People 250 in Grey. It's still at the dealer, and I gotta get to one of NJ's fine, well run DMV centers (ooohhh, can you feel the nasty sarcasm!!! Well run my you-know-what!!!!!) to get the title and all that fine crap done! Riders Insurance will be done Monday, and hopefully I'll be driving (and reviewing) sometime next week. I got the bike from Mini Trailbikes (www.minitrailbikes.com) in NJ, seeing how I've moved back to NJ to take a new job, I figured it would be a good idea to buy from a Jersey dealer.
We can thank David Harrington from Justgottascoot.com for playing a huge part in influencing my final purchase. Send him some Karma for me!!! Enjoy the ride!
John

John that's great and a good choice. Now you gotta leave the Burgman alone with your Dad tell him to be good to it! I'll be curious if you miss the extra 150cc from Burgman to Kymco..

Congrats, I can certainly understand your decision after reading the article. Looking forward to some pictures and your review. If it wasn't for my budget constraints my decision would be simple as well.
Good luck and enjoy. Andi

Btw, what is the difference between the People 250 and the S 250? Besides the cosmetics (looks), a flat floor and about $400, all seem to be the same. It would seem the S version may be the same unit in a more sporty skin? Both are nice just wondering what has the price difference, maybe just because they can?
Is that grill looking thing over the wheel actually just that, I guess it would be a good spot for the radiator?

Uh, I'm not quite sure, but I will ask the dealer when I go to pick up my People. I think the S has a few extra ponies in there somewhere...

The S line is the new model, different engines, different bodies and different chassis, though the same design theme. Most notable difference is the engine sizes, 125, 200 and 250 as opposed to the old 50, 150 and 250.

John, you look like a fairly tall guy. How tall are you, and how well do you fit on the P250? I didn't spend a lot of time on one, but I seem to recall not having a lot of foot room when I sat on one. Perhaps my memory is merely mixed up with the B&W and GV. I'm 6'2", 34" inseam, and size 12.5 shoes, and the main reason I started looking at a Daelim over a Kymco was the leg/foot room.
The P250 is an excellent choice. Congratulations. Personally, though I'm not a retro-style fan, I think the People 250 is more appealing than a People S 250, partly because of the flat floor and the extra utility it provides.
When you've had it a while, I'd be interested in comparisons with the Burgman 400. How much of a performance drop do you notice, particularly at freeway speeds and up hills at high speeds?

Hey Gusset!
I fit fine on it. I have a longish inseam as well, although I'm only 5' 10". I could put my feet on the floor while sitting on the P250. The listed seat height is over 30". The Burg has a ridiculous 27" seat height, so I'm gonna miss that (and the underseat storage). I'm not sure how much of it is Dealer BS, but the salesman claims the P250 should match the Burg 400 in acceleration because of the weight disparities (the P has a 367lb dry weight vs about 400 for the Burg.) The title lists 18 hp for the P250, so it should be close. I have to get to the DMV to get my NJ picture license (I still have my PA license...work has been very busy) so I can actually get my insurance card...Riders Insurance quoted $173 full coverage per year!!! Awesome!
Chomping at the bit, with camera in hand...The Ride Beckons!
