Since so many of us are suffering the same problem, wonder if we could get a recall, or a class action suit going? (Just kidding).

I have done one performance upgrade on my Reflex. I lightened the variator by removing 3 of 6 weights (the black ones) this is a well known Reflex modification call the K-Mod. It sharply quickens acceleration in the 0 - 30 range without effecting much else. I don't know if any other scooters are able to do this the same way, but lighter weights are relatively short money.

HELP. I JUST picked up my new 2007 Viva Roadster 250cc with ABS brake system. It is idling to fast. I found that the throtle and choke adjustor area is loose. Help. Also I'm looking at the operation instruction manuel and it reads 125cc 150cc. I looked at the speed indicator and it reads 100 mpr. Not 140 mpr. The bike is smoking due to the idling. The bike wants to take off and I'm not touch the throttle. Help.

Hello All, I'm a newbie on this site, just got a barely used (250 miles new) Viva 250 Roadster in Apr. Previous owner put 2 after-market driving lamps on and blew the alternator. I just charge the battery every night for now. I have 450 miles on the Viva, my 1st tank got 71mpg on reg unlead gas ! I commute 15 mi to work1/2 urban street 1/2 semi-congested freeway (avg speed ~35mph). I'll agree that the ride is very harsh, seat is also very hard. Anyone know if shocks can be adjusted and how ? I'm thinking of replacing the hard seat foam with softer one. I also found pour workmanship on the wiring. Bad solder joints, bad crimp jobs (both head light ground wires). I adjusted the idle to about 900 rpm, didn't 't like the specified 1700 rpm, this also save some gas. The engine idle fine, no problem with cold start. My other gripe is 2-gal tank, kinda short between fill-up.
I also have '86 Honda Helix with 51000 miles on it ! Still getting 70+mpg on it too. The secret is using those Teflon oil additive ! The Helix started to burn oil around 45000 miles.
Anyone know where is the accurate wiring diagram for this scoot ? Seem that the Helix diagram is very close (down to the wire color) on certain circuits (alternator, head/tail lights).

Wow, after reading all of these problems, i am rethinking purchasing a Viva Roadster 250. has anyone received one of these bikes and NOT had tons of problems? i am not very mechanically inclined so talks about doing these upgrades is a bit foreign to me. i have found them more inexpensive on ebay but didnt know if anyone has a better dealer in mind who is available after the purchase. thanks for the info!

Trippgriff, I'd say, 'tons of problems' is overstated. See, if you don't have problems, you don't search on the web for forum/solution. My 2nd fillup is 72.8 mpg! It's a nice bike/scooter, sporty handling, good (enough) top speed. Just that by butt is a custom to soft seat & shocks. I am getting a bit used to the stiffer shock but the hard foam seat still prevent me from taking ong trips. Taking corners on the Viva is more fun than my Helix. 650 miles so far... no new problems. I wonder if the shock would soften up after couple of thousands miles on it.

The literature says it is C.A.R.B. certified, so CA registration shouldn't be a problem. If you buy one and it is like mine, you will have enough other problems to keep you busy. I live in AZ, so I have no actual experience with CA. registration.

hey has anyone had problems registering this scooter (viva 250cc roadster) with the dmv due to the carb emissions regulation in California. I'm really into this bike but I just don't wanna run into any problems down the road.

nophiranrat, thanks for your response. i am thinking about purchasing a Honda Reflex rather than one of these clones. Do the honda's have the same problems? also, in the event i decide to purchase one of the clones, who is the best/inexpensive dealer that will assist with any problems? thanks so much for the info!

I'm really into this bike but I just don't wanna run into any problems down the road. I recommend going to reliable dealer in your area that sells those bikes. I wouldn’t buy it off the internet then wait for the certificate to come and try to register it. Not here in California if you do that you are gambling for sure. Let the dealer register it for you and make sure all paperwork is done. If something goes wrong it makes it easer to get your money back or sue if you have to. RunRun

nophiranrat, thanks for your response. i am thinking about purchasing a Honda Reflex rather than one of these clones. I have to admit I'm thinking the same thing. I do enough maintenance on our racing bikes that I may pony up for a Japanese scooter. I love the prices, but reliability and parts availability of these scoots are starting to scare me away. I love the looks of this Roadster but I think I would rather have the Yamaha clone engine in it. I don't know that anyone sells that combo yet. I wish Bandit did because this bike (Reflex clone) is some much better looking than the UC250Z they sell based on the old Yamaha scooter.

Hello All,
I got no problem with California DMV, get in line, pay your fee, bring it around for inspection, go back in for the plate. I think part of the fun is tinkering with the scooter, whether it's from a problem or adding mods. If you can effort the Japanese scooter....by all means ... go for it. I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the Viva and I'm curious to see how long this thing will last. If I get 10K miles on this thing I'd say I got my money's worth.
I forgot to mention that my Viva has spratic gas gauge. It'll read empty, 1/8, actual...depending on it's mood! I'd say a loose wire/bad crimp job again. Still commuting with my Viva everyday. Haven't got the GPS out to check the speedo accuracy yet. I think the odormeter reads a little high, 15.0 mi show 15.8. Anybody notice the same?

Hello All,
Just did the speedo check with my GPS, it's 1-2 mph fast. Not bad for Chinese accuracy. Here the details...speedo said 10 mph, GPS said 9, 20->19, 30->29, 40->38, 50->48, 60->59, 70->69.
Another thing, the radiator fan comes on @ 1/4 mark. I think it's too soon, so I check with the thermo gun, 120F @ the thermostat housing ! But 167F @ cyclinder. This also drain a lot of juice from the battery (remember, my alternater is not working) This problem left me stranded twice, both a few miles from home. My faults both times, I stop @ the market on the way home, the fan was running when I want to start the engin to go home. The running fan took all the power and my starter will not turn over! By the time the fan stop, batt is dead. Anybody have this problem with good charging alternator ?
Just took the rear body panels out to get to the voltage regulator. It's good, my alternator is bad.
TIP: best to take out the entire rear panel (left & right side a held together by a cross plate & tail light assembly). The screws are very hard to get to. I tried to post picts but copy & paste don't work...help!
There also a little heat sink mounted next to the regulator with 2 wires going into it...anybody have any idea what it is ?
Chao for now..

Mickster- While you were installing that electric fuel pump did you see a fuel filter in there? I have a Roketa MC-54 which is also a Reflex clone, but I haven't been able to locate a fuel filter. If not, did you add one. If you have any pictures of the fuel pump and how it was mounted, that would be great! Jim J (Bandit) - here is a picture of my engine showing the exhaust. The configuration seem to be Honda Helix but the muffler is definitely Reflex. Interesting thing - that thingy with the hose running out of the exhaust is, I believe some sort of Air Injection Reactor. Remember the 70's when cars had air pumps to inject fresh air in the exhaust to get around the pollution laws? I think we have them again. Here's another view: As far as wheel size, it definitely 13". This photo is not exactly on centerline, but close enough.

Hi i am new in forum, I am involved on importing B-Lon scooters to europe and so far it is going well... I would like very much to reduce 244 cfmoto engine noise! I have a to much noise coming out from exhaust and air filter(almost as much as from exhaust). I would like to know if your scooter does much noise, and if no can you send-me more information about exhaust(brand...) and air filter(brand...) If you can send me pictures. Thanks sales@b-lon.com

8-)My ROADSTER 250 mfg by SHANGHAI JMSTAR imported by JONWAY M.C.USA and looks like MICKSTER'S VIVA now has 300 mi on it without any problems except the fuel starvation above 65 m.p.h. it's time for the first fluids change. Since I have time i took off all the plastic from the dash back to see what is underneath, I changed the oil [witch wasen't dirty] very few small metal particles in the screen, changed the coolant witch was clean and green[ hint--remove the temp sensor that is near the top of the cyl. head to bleed out the air I had no air lock. I found 1 loose hose clamp and wiring that wasen't secure and a tail light connector with no insulation, the frame and other construction looked good, after using many tie wraps to secure anything that may rattle or come loose I changed out the fuel and vacume hoses eliminating any thing that could rob vacume, I had a small vacume tank from a GM auto among my years of [junk] collection I put it in the place where I removed a vacume robbing source maybe this will correct fuel problem[ no vacume loss from 65 to 70] hope to get it back together for a sunday ride-roadtest. I am going to go for the taller w/shield like MIKESTER when funds permit, as far as the radiator position [in front of the engine] there is pleanty of clearence for air flow and shouldn't get any LOVE-BUGS in that position. After 300 mi. and seeing whats under the plastic I am still pleased with my purchase and feel more comforble at 70 m.p.h will post with the vacume tank results. KEEP ON SCOOTIN!!!

If you want an internet dealer, check allnewsports.com. I bought my Viva 250 tourer from them and have been surprisingly pleased with their service. The scooter was delivered to me quickly and they have stood by their warranty and provided many replacement parts all at no cost.
Just be aware that you may have some initial quality issues with the Viva. If you are at all handy with a wrench and voltemter, you can easily fix most of the problems at home. But if you are not handy with tools, or don't feel comfortable doing your own work, better look for a brick and mortar dealer near you.
Good luck. Gary

tom tom--To answer your question on fuel filter LOCATION I just had my ROADSTER 250 REFLEX CLONE stripped down the fuel filter was behind the tank in front of the radiator to get to it remove the shield on the bottom of the frame. I relocated mine to 4'' from the fuel pump now it can be serviced from in front of the rear wheel without removing anything. KEEP ON SCOOTIN!!!
