Evidently, it's a good idea to drain out factory installed antifreeze and put in what I know is good stuff, after reading the suggestions on this subject. My question is: I do not see a drain plug or petcock to let out the old stuff. What is the easiest way to let it all out? (Tank 250). Thanks Dawgs! scooterdog

You have to take the hose off at the water pump. I also took the hose off at the bottom of the radiator just to make sure it all came out.

No drain plug! Remove radiator cap. Look on the lower right side of your scoot. A hose from the radiator connects to the water pump (bulge on bottom front side of engine). Disconnect the hose at the pump and tilt downward from the radiator to drain coolant. You also have to remove coolant from the plastic overflow tank and refill that to the lower line after filling the rest of the system. Some recommend filling the system at the radiator fill, run the engine for a few seconds, shut off engine, remove radiator cap, add more fluid, etc. Repeat until no more needs to be added. Run engine to full operating temp. and observe operation to be certain it is cooling properly. After engine cools down, check level again at radiator cap. Sounds like a lot of fuss, doesn't it?
Don't know if hose setup is the same on the Tank. My radiator has two hoses connecting to the top, and the one I described connected to the bottom, right side of the radiator. Eyeball your setup.

Looking under the beast, found it to be exactly as ya'll say. Will pull off those hoses and get to it soon. Curious thing, in riding around on my streets locally (waiting on paperwork to register), the temp gauge does not climb even to half-way yet. That's with idling and just putting about 35 cph. When I stopped and looked under, the little fan was spinning away under there (looks like a computer fan, Jacine!). So, hopefully my putting in better fluid at 50/50 ratio will not cause any overheating problems like I have read about here. Will do it anyway for the corrosion inhibitors. If it begins to run "hot", I will strengthen the mixture till it cools down. Thanks for the tips on draining. scooterdog

scooterdog; No need to go to excess with the mixture. "Strengthening" the mixture does not affect cooling. Curiously, pure water or pure antifreeze by themselves do not cool as well as a mixture. In your area, I don't think you need 50/50. Probably 40% antifreeze is more than enough. If you get all the air out, you won't have problems.
