Hello all, I have a 49cc chinese scooter, (Shenghischenki) and I am wondering if the black cylinder on the carb is the automatic choke. The bike starts fine but when it gets warmed up it boggs down when I give it throttle. It only does this under load, when its on the center stand it revs pretty well. I think the choke is staying on or is sticking so its flooding out. I am thinking if I put a switch inline whe auto choke I could just turn it off after the engine gets to operating temp. Does this make sense? Thanks in advance for your ideas!

i have a Shanghai Schenke 150 and w/o seeing a pic i would say yes, that is your auto enricher {choke} and Yes it doesnt seem like its closing after warm up.
now im gonna tell you what i 'member but i may be wrong you can take it of the carb and start you engine. if after 4-5 mins it doesnt expand, that means its bad
ill try and find the link, and post it for you

Yes that proabaly is the choke. But it really is not. It is a mixture enrichment - it really does not "choke" the air off. I doubt it is is too rich. When it warms up and then starts stalling it is probably lean because the "choke" has turned off. Use the searh engine on the bottom of any page to search for the device and you will find several threads. you probably have a carburator partly gummed up from the ethenal mixture you have been burning.
Good luck lefty2
Welcome to the forum. If you want to learn to how thelse engines work

Thanks Lefty, I have had the carb off and cleaned everything. The strange thing is that it did this a while back but just went away. I wonder if the enricher has an intermittant issue.

Well that was not it, the enricher seems to be fine. I pulled one off an identicle bike, put it in mine and it does the same thing. Boggs down and will stall when I give it throttle. Any other ideas? Please lol, I'm stumped.
