Man, they don't seem to make anything that doesn't hold much over two or three hundred pounds, I weigh 200 pounds and every time I plop my butt onto the back of the seat the scooter bottoms out and I haven't even started to ride... Now if I sit down gently in the FRONT it seems to do all right but don't let me take a turn at decent speed because it bears down on that shock and then the kickstand starts scraping... I mean come on, $200+ for one shock, who do they think they're kidding? www.scooterloungeonline.com/product/1000-1078I need STIFFNESSS!!!! A HARD SHCOK!!! For UNDER $100 !!! The stock shock is just a POS, I really need two to make it right and my scoot won't take but one. I even ordered a slightly used one to compare, heck it was $20 and in really good shape, all the rubber had no cracks, same performance as the one I had on, which is to say lousy. Then I got some 'adjustable' shock which had this extra canister and now that won't fit with the new engine as the air box gets in the way but no matter, it's a sorry POS too, fully adjusted for stiffness and with 200 psi of air in the canister it still hardly holds my butt. I've looked at these shocks high and low, seems the only thing decent is near $100 for a single shock! Do those even work any better or do they just cost a whole lot because they're fancy, what gives, doesn't anyone make a dang shock that holds up some POUNDAGE? If so, could someone help steer me in the right direction, and yeah I'm trying not to spend a fortune dog gone. 13" eye to eye, a 12" would work if it was STIFF!!!!

Sounds like you need a heavier duty spring. Shocks are not load-supporting (aside from air shocks).

Fair enough, is this spring even replaceable on a stock shock? Or on any other for that matter...
I just figured it was all one piece, you get one with the other...

Uhm that has been helpful, I am getting somewhere now, not that I've found the shocks but at least I am assuming the problem is that the spring coil wire thickness on the ones I have tried so far likely measures between 7 to 8mm thickness, and so I would be looking at a 12 to 13 inch shock with a spring coil wire thickness in the 10 to 12mm range.

There you go, a heavier spring will make it a lot harder to compress. Lefty
