I recently redid a lot of thins on my scooter. I had it all back together and driving fine but was waiting on a new batter. the battery was a 4-L and was way small. the new battery I got is a 7-L. upon hooking up this battery the fuse blew. I put in a new fuse and it instantly blew again. There is no key in the ingnition and after this happened I used the multimeter and checked continuity. red wire on the accessory wire after fuse and black wire to my frame and it was continuous. I inspected wires for hours and found nothing that was grounding out on the frame. Could the wire be hidden somewhere in the wiring harness? I need help it is frustrating the sh!t out of me.

You sure you connected the RED WIRE TO THE POSITVE POST and do not have the RED WIRE HOOKED UP TO THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL ON THE BATTERY? Lefty
P.S what size fuse are you putting in?

yes and I dont have any battery or anything at all hooked up to the scooter now an the positive accessory wire (where the fuse goes) when hooked up to the multimeter and the other multimeter wire to the frame, beeps because its completing the circuit. Also when this originally happened i smelt burning plastic or something burnt.

Try a 15 amp that's what I use, I replaced the fuse holder with a blade fuse holder also

I dont think the fuse is the only problem here, the power wire wouldn't complete a circuit with the frame

You must of hooked up the battery wrong the first time and you burnt the R/R and some wires. Also you MUST HAVE A BATTERY ON THE SCOOT otherwise the stator and R/R will send the juice to the frame. You CANNOT run a scoot without a battery you will burn up stuff in a minute. Lefty

ok what is the R/R and I havent ran it at all without a battery. do you think that is the only thing wrong? will I need a new wiring harness?

if you have extra wire. Cut theam back so you have good clean wire and put new ends on. I had to redo my scoot after years of rideing. clean the battery post to. just go threw and clean all the contacts.

I have done all of that but it doesn't help the fact that my scooter is creating some sort of ground loop and the positive wires are grounding out somewhere. at least im pretty sure that is whats happening
