8-)Hey guys hows it goin. So by now ive realized that being a 50cc scooter enthusiast means lots of tinkering and tuning for small gains. This is great if your into working on scooters like i am. Here is a little trick i found that rivals those pricey 2oo-300 performance exhaust kits for pennies on the dollar. If you visit your local lowes home and garden center and go into the lawnmower section, you will probably find extreemly cheap lawnmower mufflers. I found a nice tubular muffler about eight inches long and about three inches in circumfrence. It has on end that is threaded and is rated for 5 hp lawnmowers. The only trick to this is finding a fitting that matches the threads on the muffler and has a compression fitting on the other end. once a propper coupling is found, simply grind or hacksaw the old muffler off near the weld to the pipe. use compression fitting with threads to attach muffler to existing pipe. I used copper high temp rtv silicone as thread sealer for no leaks. There is even a single baffle in this muffler which i put four small holes in. The sound is amazing. It sounds deep and rich without being pingy and annoying. The total price tag,,,,,, Muffler $4.98 . Coupling $3.75, Copper rtv $7.00. So for about $15.00 i fabricated an exhaust that rivals performance exhausts in sound and performance. So did i gain any performance>? yes a straight up 5mph better than with stock. Does it look good? not that bad at all. im considering painting it but as is its easier to see how i did it and i like showing it to my buddies at work.

Hi Outstanding After the change did you do a plug chop to see if your fuel/air mixture was at a proper setting, you dont want to be running it either too lean or rich You may need to change your jets as normally when you alter the intake or exhaust it can change the mixture Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

Best thing you can do, is get a stock exhaust, drill holes in the back, and add one or two pipes. More noise, but better air flow.
Most stock mufflers either muffle the sound very good, but provide back pressure, resulting in lower MPG, and lower performance, or they provide good performance/mpg, but lower sound.
Most stock mufflers muffle the sound too well, and have back pressure. For that, you either need to drill out the exhaust tip, install a bigger pipe, or add a second pipe somewhere, to double the output.
Most performance exhausts are quite upto the task of increasing performance, MPG, while giving a better sound (though louder).
