;D my 150CC chinese scooter (2009) runs like a top, in fact recently I have the problem that the engine won't shut down when I turn off the ignition..... gauges go dead...but bike is still running.... I actually have to get to idle screw and turn it counter clockwise until it finally shuts off.... I know it's in the wiring, but where should I start?
I have actually purchased a new wire harness....but am not sure how big a job this is and haven't attempted to install it to date.
thanks....

I take it , it doesn't have a kill switch? You may want to remove some plastic and gain access to the ignition swich. That's where i'd start, check for broken or loose wires at the switch.

Pay special attention to the black/white wire , it should hook to the green when the ignition switch is off . while the key is off with the engine running , jump the green to the black/white should shut the engine off . www.testedscooterparts.com/John

Run a jumper wire from the coil. Put an alligator clip on it and attach to your nipple. Maybe the frame or jump the two. Depends on how adventurous you're feeling.

hey, thanks for everyone's answers, they all make good sense, but here's my 2 reason's I haven't done anything so far. Not having and indoor place to work on my bike is a drag, especially here in Florida. If the heat doesn't get you, a sudden downpour out of the blue certainly will.Plus not being a kid anymore screws with my back and after 40-45 minutes (I'm 72). I just have to stop working and take a long break. But the real reason I haven't attempted repairs is the old 'if it ain't broken, don't fix it' rule. You have to understand this freekin bike is running like a charm.....starts each and every time with the first turn of the key & starter button, idles great and terrific response.....so hey it won't stop running.....I use to open the access to the engine and stop it by cutting the idle speed, but yesterday I realized an easier way by just removing the boot on the CDI and pulling off a wire, engine stops I reconnect wire and I am ready to go again without concern that I changed idle speed. On a side note....regarding 'kill switch' like some of you I use to use it when I stopped my scooter...but some time ago was told by someone I consider a good mechanic...that the real purpose of the 'kill switch' is simply for use in AN EMERGENCY, a situation where trying to turn the key to the off position would take too long....and that using the 'kill switch' everytime is NOT A GOOD IDEA...BECAUSE IT WILL FAIL WAY BEFORE IT'S TIME BY USING IT IN THAT WAY.
My scooter runs with kill switch in either position, ignition key- OFF (gauges off).
Once again that's for all the answers, one day when I don't have much knee pain and the chances of rain are nil, and I have an ambitious bug up my ass, I'll get on it and see if I can change the whole wire harness and whatever bad switches I might have....but for now I'll keep riding (I love to ride) and just use the CDI wires as my OFF switch.

They have ambitious bugs in FL why didn't prodigit ever mention them??
Why not just put a easily accessed switch on that wire your pulling out? It might take 5 min...
