So I've been watching this guy on eBay with an all inclusive 100cc BBK for months on ebay and I think I'm ready to pull the trigger. It comes with An assembled head, cam, gaskets, rollers, cdi, coil, exhaust, carb, jet, rollers, air filter, im sure theres more but it's pretty much all I'd need to max out my scoot. He's outta the cams right now, but said he'll have some in a few weeks. Seeing as I'm going to have to do a valve adjustment I thought why not go a few steps further and do it all at once. Should I wait for the cams, or does it make a difference, or are these both junk? What else will my scooter need to cope with the added power? Here's 2 he's got listed: www.ebay.com/itm/160963747107?redirect=mobilewww.ebay.com/itm/100cc-Big-Bore-Kit-Performance-Power-Pack-Red-Exhaust-Chinese-Scooter-Parts-/150996175529?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item232812caa9

Wow these kits are coming down in price! I did mine a few months ago with a 50mm ("100cc") eBay kit that just included a CDI, performance cam, oil pump, carb jet, and variatior weights but was a lot cheaper. Since the install everything has been great. I didn't end up using the CDI, oil pump, or CVT weights but that could always change.
I don't think the cam makes a big difference but I could be wrong. I have my scooter tuned pretty conservatively so I didn't see huge gains - I really just wanted a scooter that didn't have to be pegged at WOT 98% of the time with every last ounce of tuning maxed out just to get around reasonably. Now it even ACCELERATES up hills if you open it up and has enough power to actually max out it's gearing. All in all I'm 5-8 mph faster and mind you my intake/carb/exhaust/CVT setup is pretty stock/conservative other than rejetting the carb. With the exhaust and air filter kit and lighter CVT weights you will pretty much be maxing out your scooter. You shouldn't need to upgrade anything else unless you really want to push some serious top speed and be riding in the 45-50 mph range regularly. Then it's like.... well the tires, brakes, suspension, steering, etc ain't made for this...

starrider has good kits, the one for 169 has everything you'll need, he used to sell them without the carb and filter for 179, so its a great deal.

The only thing it doesnt include is the cam. He use to sell a kit for 99.99 that had 50mm cylinder, matching head, rockers, gaskets, oil pump, low quality rollers, coil, cdi, and racing cam. now that kit is 69.99 minus the cam. Nice deal, I like his kits usually.

Thanks guys, I'll probably grab the $169 one tomorrow. My scooter only has 300 miles on it. So if its the same as stock, I don't think it'd be needed. Glad I asked, would've hated to wait for it for nothing, or got it only to find out it was junk.

I have three scoots all with bbk's no "bang", its not the size of the kit that will make the scoot go "bang" its the compression, is why i used two base gaskets on my bigger kit. You can get a 150 and it will be faster, but then you have to get insurance plates and crap and its still not really fast enough to go on the highway. A 50 with a bbk and a few other mods, like that are all included in the kit from starrider will make your scoot slower than a 150, but much faster than a stock 50. Its just right for in town driving. It will be fast enough to keep up with traffic even uphill on roads 40 and under, the stock 50 is just too slow and is dangerous in my opinion. I refuse to have to title and pay insurance on a 150 that is too slow to go on the highway. If i have to title and maintain insurance i would buy a 500cc and up, which i plan to do soon, probably the bmw 600cc scoot.

The cam he sells is no different than stock, I had it and then went to a a9 cam, way different. That must be why I wasn't very impressed with my cam

but millsc is right, recognize the machine you have for it's function and don't try to make it something it's not. I love my 50cc now with the BBK but I'm going to be getting a 500cc scooter in a week or two here for highway/road trips.

worrddd oh okay, that's still so crazy but damn that is a hell of a machine. I'd rather get a straightup motorcycle for that engine size and price though.

yeah, im not looking to go drag racing with mine. I picked it up cheap, it didn't run. I got it going but it only tops out at like 22-25. I need to use it for my in-town 10 minute commute where most of the driving is 30-40, but i've got one big hill on the way. Just needed a little more Ummmpphh. I live in NY where you need to register and insure scooters and mopeds that do 25-30 mph. bigger 150cc's need licenses and all that jazz, which may be an option in the future. But if I have to/want to go that route, I'd probably just go w/a street bike anyways. WAY more BANG for the buck on one of those. Although...that beamer is pretty sweet...

with a 100cc BBK and a few goodies itll pull pretty strong and do 30-40 in just about any terrain or traffic, you can build them for more top speed like my other 50cc was but then I feel like they start to get unreliable for general purpose use.

Its a different profile than stock, Ill have to get an A9 cam to compare it to. When it arrives Ill do a side by side from the star rider- a9- ncy- stock. Its no where near as aggressive as my ncy and Im curious as to the a9s profile. I really couldnt tell a difference between the star rider and stock on power either.

the a9 is a good cam much better compared to stock, it's says its for mid and top end, but i gained torque from it also.

now im conflicted, starrider has a kit w/o the exhaust and carb, but a different CDI for cheaper. and I could pick up the A9 and stainless exhaust from scrappy. I wonder if star rider's mufflers are any different other than the stainless...
