I think the remains of Nemo have crossed the Atlantic and hit Britain today, while I was out on the scooter!
I ended up walking the best part of six miles with the scooter just chugging along beside me so I didn't have to push. During that I helped three different farmers pull three different cagers out of the ditch at the side of the road.
I eventually managed to get a to clear ish road, and ride at 10mph with legs dangling and boots scraping the deck.
The worst part was not being able to see!
I had a lucky escape tonight, and learned a lesson about checking weather reports!

It was an experience. Being ex navy (in five minutes!!!) obviously I've been in situations where survival skills, outdoors trekking, ridiculous weather conditions are all par for the course, but this is the first time it's been "out of reasonable control" so to speak. I know that had it got REALLY bad (like what you guys had) I could have easily survived in a snow hole for the night, but it was a little shocking coming across it in "real life".
From the news reports tonight, it looks like I got down off the moors just in time. In the town where I am, it's not bad at all, maybe six inches. Up on the hills (where I was trying to cross the moors) there are stacks of cars stuck on the road, not even in the ditches.
The irony is, there's a warm front full of rain coming through.......so it'll all be washed away by tomorrow afternoon! Lol

Well Ian, weather like this calls for a blazing fireplace, a warm drink and a good book.

Glad to hear you made it home safe Ian... in my neck of the woods, some people never made it home and were taken to shelters with cars abandoned on the LIE (long island xway) Stay safe.
