i have a 2009 Keeway F-act pretty much stock 50cc, at the end of last season was having trouble with it running it would start and idle fine, but would die when giving it throttle, i figured that part out i had a cracked intake, put a new one on and it started and ran fine, but then it developed a problem starting and was blowing excessive oil out exhaust lots of smoke and oil being blown out of exhaust too. last time i rode it when i shut it off it would not start again, checked the plug and it was fouled i thought maybe a problem with oil injection or possibly auto enricher on the carburetor , but never got around to checking them, did check compression and that seems good. now that it is going to be getting warm in a couple months i wanted to get ready to get started on getting it running again for the new season, i recently was talking with someone and they told me it sounds like the crank seal needs to be replaced they thought with the mileage i have on it (9500) they are no good , i know i would have to do a leak down test to truly find out if that is the case, so how hard are the crank seals to replace, does it involve splitting the case and remove the stator?

i will, how often should they be changed? i have seen threads on here with scooters more miles and their reeds are ok, or does it depend on how you ride?

After reading how Teddys metal reeds failed and pieces got into the crank I would replace with fiberglass or carbon fiber reeds
