Hi i just bought a used oliver cpi sport and i was running fine...It then began getting colder out and the moped started acting funny. whenever i gave it gas it would conk out, or if i got lucky i could go maybe 15mph and then it would stay at that speed until i went downhill then everything kicked in and i could go about 40mph. The thing that confuses me the most is why it is conking out because it used to run fine. Could it be the temperature?(it's 30 degrees on average and i checked the gas filter and the gas isn't freezing) It has 2,300 miles on it.

yeah your probably lean (not enough fuel to motor) because of the colder weather, air is more dense when cold and less when warmer so up jet a size and it will probably fix your issue

I would check the enricher on the carb before anything else, or more likely, you're probably due for a carb cleaning.

yeah i was thinking about a carb clean but that seems right and also when i took the seat out i saw that the guy before me put this wierd PVC pipe and shut-off valve where the air intake is. so i then just took it off and im not sure what to put back on

For starters 2Ts are cold natured , more so in the winter , so you should always let it warm up prior to riding . Has anything been modded on it ? 2ts are picky on the jetting if you change the exhaust or air filter . Most have small jets and a size up or two can help in most cases but to big will flood it and hurt performance . I run NGKBRP8HIX sparkplug which is the iridium as you should be using too . There is a BRP7HIX which is a hotter plug that may work better in the winter time . The small jets get clogged easy and gas with with ethanol goes bad real fast . I would drain the bowl on the carb after draining the gas or pinch off the hose so it wont spill everywhere . I bought a siphon pump from Harbor Freight for 5 bucks when I had gotten some gas with water in it . I drained into a gas jug and used it at a bon fire . Remove the bowl on the bottom of the carb and the jets unscrew with a flathead screwdriver . They look like a hollow screw if you have not seen any before . Use carb spray and or a stiff solid wire to scrub through it . Ethanol is a solvent to some of the cheap rubber fuel hoses and the tiny particles collect in the jets . Another thing to do is inspect and clean the airfilter too. Only use premium gas and premium 2T oil like Bel Ray , Maxima , Motul or Lucas brands ether synthetic blend of full synthetic . Never use the crappy weedeater grade oil
