What size rollers are you using? If your using 3.5 to 4 gram you should use a red spring. 4.5 to 5.5 use a yellow. It's just a basic idea of what spring to use. I think yellow is the best for most setup's where red is for most racing setup's.

If you put in stronger Contra Spring you have to go with little heavier weights. If you put in stronger Contra Spring and you put in LIGHT weights you may loose quite a bit of top end. Reason is it will take a lot more RPMS with the lighter weights to OPEN the Clutch pulley with the stronger Spring to get the Belt to Climg up the Variator to Pull the Belt down in the CLutch pulley for your top end.
You will have great take off speed up to mid range but it may just putter out after that if the motor doesn't produce enough RPMS. And to add to that running a HIGH RPMS all the time is what kills motors. Sam

I run stiffest clutch springs, stiffest torque spring, a mix of 3 and 4 gram rollars, and the motor has been running at 10,000 rpm for 3,000 miles so far without any additional tinkering/rebuilding running at times 30 miles at WOT straight. High rpm doesn't kill two stroke motors (high meaning around 10k), improper jetting/cooling/lubricating kills motors. Good luck!

i use 4 grams and 2000 torque spring and 2000 clutch spring shoots up real quick 9000-9500rpms through must of the power band and slowly goes up 10000 rpms cruising on flat ground any 2t scooter really should have 7 grams or under imo i have never used over 5.5 because it takes forever to get to good usable rpms but im 200 plus but the roller and torque spring oppose each other. So putting lighter weights in would be like putting a stiffer spring in or vice versa, but there is no way you should have 9 gram wieghts in your cvt that is way to heavy

First off it is a very confusing subject, and im not good at explaining things but imo you are running way to heavy of weights so that needs to be fix first try 4-6 grams and see how you like it, then you can try a heavier spring but because you use 1000 1500 2000 spring doesnt mean you need heavier weights to use them, you really need to know how a cvt work the spring fights the roller in a way to speak, the spring is applying pressure to the clutch ramp plates to make your belt ride higher on the clutch or make it harder to reach a higher gear in a way it trying to down shift where the roller are try to up shift and drive the belt deeper into the clutch for a higher gear. I run 4 gram roller and 2000 spring with a 70cc kit i do 50+ top speed and will climb the largest mountain in va but i didnt find the perfect setup asking but by trying every combo i could do in the cvt(time consuming) not saying my setup will work for you or anyone else but i would try some lighter roller first and see how you like that its the easiest thing to do and is cheap
