Reminds me of the Kenny Rodgers song, You got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away... It shows wisdom The willingness to fights does not make one strong. Preventing fights, imo makes you the winner. ... There is more maturity in turning down a fight, imo

Apology accepted. I won't argue that your way is the smart way to avoid confrontation. I, however, have a real problem with bullies--that has bled over into having a problem with the way a few percent of drivers treat scooters, and I have no problem telling them about it. If they run into me and wipe me off the road, they'll be on video and they'll go to jail for attempted (or successful) vehicular manslaughter. I live in a town of less than 10k people, and many of them own trucks and are country boys--they don't take ta that scoota ridin' crowd so well. I set them straight once, especially if it's in front of others, and they tend to leave me alone. There is one guy in a white van that honked his horn behind me (I didn't do anything) and then yelled something at me at a crossroads a few weeks later (I couldn't hear it) but you can bet that if anything else happens, then at the next stop sign (we don't have lights, heh) I'm going to ask him if there is a problem. He'll either say, "No, what are you talking about," to which I'll say, "OK, cool," and leave, or he'll say something stupid, like "Yeah, get your little motorbike off of the highway," where I will then educate him on how the law views my "little motorbike" and if he gets nasty, I will match his nastiness. That's all. Just drawing the line.

That's all. Just drawing the line. That's what this thread is all about....There is essentially two different philosophies when it comes to dealing with cars. I think both have been expressed. I hope some misconceptions have been clarified. But, the bottom line is, we hope this thread is a benefit to all its readers and we've all learned something.

Some of the responses in this thread remind me of a bumper sticker I saw once:
The more people I meet, the more I like my dog.

I ride about 2 mph over the posted speed limit and don't linger at traffic lights to start and that eliminates 99% of the ragers incensed by the percepton that scooters hold up traffic. Yielding to tailgaters and turning off to another roadway when needed to avoid them usually eliminates the rest.
There is a Sicilian expression that loosly translated goes something like "Butter on the nose". Make your presence as soothing as possible and you'll have much fewer problems with hot tempered people.

Yielding to tailgaters and turning off to another roadway when needed to avoid them usually eliminates the rest. Good stuff. As a driver I always thought when I saw a motorcycle speed away at a traffic light it was because he/she was showing everyone how cool he is. What a fast bike he has. Now rock, you've given me a different perspective. It's done more for defensive purposes....to create space between you and the cars. Appreciate it. “For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife." Proverbs 30:33 That’s wisdom. I find it ridiculous that there are some riders who have convinced themselves they can “teach” or “educate” drivers aka “cagers” during a road rage scenario. Are you kidding me? You think you can teach them a lesson by giving them the bird or purposely slowing down in front of them? Or giving them a mean looking glare when you’re next to them? There isn’t a driver in the world who is ready to be “taught a lesson” during a road rage incident. All you’re doing is tempting fate. So far, you’ve gotten away with not having it escalate to the next level. One day, fate may come knocking at your door. You might get involved with a driver who is willing to take it to the next level…..and you say “bring it on!” ‘I’m ready!” You’re ready for what? To go down a path that you might end up in jail? Pay heavy fines? For what? All because he cut you off, because he/she didn’t see you? Be honest with yourself. You’re not doing it to teach anyone any “driving lessons.” You’re reacting aggressively because your ego has been bruised, and you want payback! The BIG GUY has no respect for you the little guy….and you want to prove to him you’re not a little guy/gal! You want to prove to them you're a big guy/gal. Why not show them by not stooping to their level of ignorance? You’re not going to be teaching anyone any lessons out there. Chill out…and put some butter on your nose!

please stop quoting that idiotic book it is TOTALLY against forum rules and i will ask that you be banned Come on snuggles. If people can quote Plato, Buddha, Sun Tzu, and others there is nothing in the forum rules that says people can't quote ancient books or writers. The quote was valid to the subject at hand and wasn't preachy at all. It was in harmony with the quote from other ancient philosophers and writers in this very thread. Let us be tolerant of everyone's personal beliefs as long as they aren't pushing them on us. Many preach tolerance to people with views that are different than theirs but, true tolerance is allowing what for you is intolerable. On topic now I will often wave as I pass the car that just nearly took me out because they didn't see me but with all 5 fingers. I generally don't have any interest in tangling with a vehicle that is in some cases out weigh me by more than 10 times. I can out run most and persistent tail gaters are allowed to pass. When I'm on the 150 I get over ever chance I get despite being with in 3 of the posted limit. Its not worth it I love my wife and kids.

please stop quoting that idiotic book it is TOTALLY against forum rules and i will ask that you be banned Good lord. You seem to be waiting for the chance to wave a gun in someone's face, like your bong hits, and like to insult someone's religion. You seem a bit maladjusted. Take it down a notch. I have my own particular set of beliefs, my wife is Japanese and bhuddist, and I have many athiest, muslim, hindu, jewish etc friends. People are free to believe and speak what they think and different points of view are welcome with me. While I don't share the views of people who may follow the Quran, I have read much of it in college, (it is called educating one's self) and don't feel it is necessary to call their text idiotic or shout them down.

He wasn't talking religion you are. He was talking anger management. You should consider it right now cause you are making a fool of yourself. I generally like you and your ideas are fun but for you to rant about someone making you change your pic and say how ridiculous it was that one person should be able to make you change (you were right by the way) and now be such a Nazi about things here when this is obviously not preaching. You started an obvious political thread breaking the rules and no one sought to have you banned. Be fair here take a deep breath and relax...

nope cant do it any religious topics or quotes will be reported you wanna talk religion, theres a ton of site to go to Unfortunately, you're not permitted to make up your own rules while ignoring THE Rules. From the board rules.... "Religion There will be no discrimination allowed against anyone of any religion at any time." The definition of discrimination... Discrimination is the prejudicial or distinguishing treatment of an individual based on their actual or perceived membership in a certain group or category, such as their age, ethnicity, gender/sex, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, skin color, or other characteristics. Rules continued... That said it is not acceptable to impose your religion on others. Posting a Scripture verse is not forcing anyone to accept my religion. Rules cont... Saying "God Bless You" and other similar expression when replying to a tragic post is fine as well. Starting religious discussions is not. The quote was not about starting a religious discussion or forcing my beliefs on you....Just sharing what I believe. Please be tolerant of all opinions and please stop making this so personal. Thank you

please stop quoting a book written 2000 years ago. There are many quotes from various writers that were written even longer than 2000 years ago. You only want to discriminate against one of them. You have no problem with any of the others. I agree, there should be no religious topics. This wasn't a topic.
