Looking at a 2012 Genuine Roughhouse 50. Everything I find on it lists it as 50cc but is specifically restricted to follow motorized bicycle laws across the country. Most scooters like this are like 49.x cc instead of actually 50cc. Does anyone have any idea of the actual cc?

All the on-line spec sheets say "50cc's" but it's most likely 49.5-49.7 cc's. The best and only way to tell for sure is to remove the fan shrouds and look at the cylinder. At the base it should have the displacement cast or stamped into it.

my local Genuine dealer is phasing out scooter sales. They have one Genuine Roughhouse 50 left and I happen to contact them about what they might have for sale they told me they will sell it for invoice to get it out the door. $1785 out the door after $114 title fee and sales tax. ($1550 invoice price.) Also has one of the best warranties I've found... 2 yr bumper to bumper parts/labor. I just need to register it under my law in KS to qualify as a motorized bicycle. The law is so unclear here that I don't know if it is 50cc and below or up to 50cc that qualifies. The fact is that the DMV person just asks you so as long as the title doesn't indicate it being too high I'll be fine but that's something I wouldn't know till after I bought it. I have a little more research to do but I think this is a deal I"m going to go after. Can't really top it.
and btw... the scooter is MUCH MUCH more impressive in person than any picture will show. I fell in love the moment I saw it.

You have to take off some parts to get to that. mainly the fan shrouds. It's right next to where it says "oil pump" in this picture:

yup wifes trike mso said 49cc but it will go about 35mph police said if it goes over 30mph it is a motorcycle and has to be registered at the courthouse they said they can not register anything under 50cc so it was alot of B/S. So i contacted the place we bought it from and they sent a new mso saying it was 50cc and all was good

yeah the laws vary so dramtically state to state and depending on who you ask. I can't find any concrete laws for my state anywhere. I've had 2 that I registered and all they do here is ask you 3 questions. Is it 49cc or less, is it 3.5bhp or less and does it go over 30mph. you basicly can tell them whatever you want.

as much as I would like to... that would incur insurance fees and a cycle license. 50cc and below require neither. and the Roughhouse once unrestricted goes as fast as I need to go anyways. Looks like a great bike though!

The Roughhouse is EASILY one of the best if not the best 49cc (we call them 50s but they are technically like 48-49cc) on the market.
50cc 4 stroke scooters are pretty crappy in my opinion. Under powered and overly complicated.
The big companies (Yamaha and Honda) are trying to make 4 stroke 50s produce acceptable amounts of power by adding more valves and fuel injection and water cooling and taking away the kick start (why?) but what you end up with is this monstrosity that is only marginally acceptable in the power department but has sacrificed simplicity which is one of the crucial elements to small engineering.
Meanwhile the hungry companies (Kymco, Genuine, Tomos, etc.) are keeping it real and following the old rule of, "if it aint broke don't fix it" and as a result I believe they will begin to dominate the 50cc market for one simple reason.
Anyone who test drives a new Yamaha "Zuma", and Honda Ruckus, and a Genuine Roughhouse will inevitably chose the Roughhouse because it is more fun. Faster, quicker, better stopping power, and an excellent warranty.
Its the same engine that came in the REAL Zuma (pre2011) and they Yamaha Jog which is one of the top 3 best scooter engines ever.
