I was wondering what scooters have unrestricted pipes. Is it ok to use the stock exhaust pipe on a 70 cc upgrade? If the pipe restricted what part of the pipe would be?

Are we talking 2t or 4t but either way i havnt seen a restriction to date in a stock exhaust but they do come with them, more then anything they really dont flow the best for optimum performance but i have ran a stock pipe on both 2t and 4t bbk with no issues

Yes they are as they have a CC inside of them

Most 2Ts are restricted to 8,500 RPMs

cause that all the rpm the motor can get on a stock pipe doesnt make it restricted, that all it can do. there is aftermarket pipes that do only 8500 on 2t some 9500 10500 and so on its just the design of the pipe not a actual restrictor in the pipe but a lot off aftermarket 2t pipes come with a cone in the header to meet what ever law but are easily removed

On the scooter i have a Benelli x50 it has a warning label about the exhaust noise level. So i figured the pipe has some type of restriction. I bought an unrestricted front part of the pipe and wonder if their is any other part of the pipe that has a restriction. What is a CC a catalytic converter? I thought they were on 4 stroke engines only. How do you remove it?

there is no catalytic converter and i dont know what he is talking about with cc i have many different brand and makes of 2t exhaust and only seen the cone at the header but i know some put a cone in the silencer also like in the second link but have never seen one just bought a 100cc pipe for the vento and had no restrictions

Thanks for the info. I'm going to take the silencer off and check inside.

If the pipe restricted what part of the pipe would be? When I bought my technigas next r exhaust there was a washer, spot welded in place on the exhaust pipe where the exhaust pipe bolted to the exhaust manifold, restricting the opening size to only about 3/8". I drilled out the spot welds, removed the restrictive washer, re-jetted, and away I went full speed. Something to look for on any exhaust I would say..

What is the pipe coming off the exhaust for? A hose connected to it. I only replaced the pipe cause it wouldn't go back on unless i bend it when i added a 70cc Attachments:

It draws in air so exhaust is cleaner

Stock pipes are limited as to what RPMs they can allow as my stock would max at 8,000 where my MMG I can hit 11,000 . Stock 2ts have a cone in the expansion chamber . I have seen pics of some with restriction on the end of the pipe but mine was not . Now the exhaust port on the 49cc has D shaped instead of an O so some porting would help the top end

I seen a video of someone cutting open a Leo Vance exhaust and aren't all exhaust restricted in someway no matter if it's a stock or aftermarket.

It still don't tell me how you know a stock pipe is restrictive to 8000 rpm's Do you know how to setup a rpm gauge on a 2 stroke?

If you looked it shows the RPM imitation for most pipes and mine came with a tach

Well mine would only hit 8,000 even with lighter rollers and racing CDI but when I put on a BBK I noticed the exhaust port was not fully open like on the BBK thus I believe was restricting the RPM limits

I ordered a rpm gauge and will test how many rpm's i can get. It seems when it comes to exhaust pipes their are so many to choose and wouldn't you like to know what you have before shelling out all that money that might not give you a big boost in speed and hp. I'm not saying the stock pipe is all i need i just want to know what it rated at. The kit i have can go 11,000 rpm's but i really want 9500 to 10,000 rpm so the crank is not under a heavy load.
