You know in such accidents it's always the fault of the one behind. So keep your distance, stupid cagers!!

They were probably trying to put some distance between them and the truck, he was probably trying to force them off the road. Hope he sleeps well.

this is what i do. when i get a a$$ kisser i SLOW down, and keep glancing at 'em glaring actually. if they dont get the hint, i keep slowing down as far as i have to all the while , glaring at them, then naturally the 'finger' comes out and me yelling GET THE F#%K OFF MY ASS as loud as my soft voice can scream. it usually works at least to embarrass 'em
but not all can be embarrassed

We all need a sticker that says "The closer you get the slower I go!"

Seriously everybody needs to do this, and spread the word so cagers hear; you get on my ass, you get the brakes (no matter what I'm driving). you give me a couple car lengths, we move along.

I'm a girl thingy when it comes to 4000lb moving objects, I would rather just pull over and let them go. Even if it's not "right".

Understood. I have a spot, uphill, twisting S curve. No shoulders, ditch on both sides, I can only muster 25mph up this "lady dog" and they just wont me give an inch. I usually pull over right past the crest of the hill, before it starts to go up again. I'm a BIG fan of the glare/stare, but the only time I tried the slow down method I almost ended up like the two lost souls in the story. Was on a two lane road, no one else around, this "female puppy" comes up behind me and stays, I let off, now she's so close I'm sweating so I move into the left lane to let her by. I glared her down hard but she didn't even realize I was there.

yea, you'll get alot of that i'll hit my brakes, not hard enough to engage, but to make my lights come on.
lots of times tho, your right there's nothing you can do except go as fast as you can till you find a spot to pull over. and then give 'em the FINGER as they pass by Now good for me, bad for you not even a tough guy is gonna hit a 5'1" 130 lb woman, but a guy like you . they might wanna get physical.

Being of a diminuative stature at times does have it's benefits. At my size a number of little guys in big vehicles do take on an attitude that they would not take against a little lady.
When I had the 150 I put LED running board lights above my topcase to make me more visible on the road. With the 250 Aprilia I usually have the ability to pull away from all but the most determined idiot so I can safely pull off at the first opportunity. That I am snapping their picture as they pass with my cell phone gives them the message that they are having the dime dropped on them.
The best is driving by a speed trap and having a Deputy take care of the aggressive driver. I do wave to all officers I make eye contact with especially motorcycle police so they seem to watch my back when they see me ride by. It dosn't cost me anything to be nice and the rewards are at times beyond value.

Finally read the article. Out riding double on a single passenger 25 mph restricted bike during a snow storm and slid out in front of a truck. In those conditions there is not much you can do as a truck driver to avoid a bike going down beside you and into your lane.
Sad story but it was asking for a disaster to take out that bike with a passenger on those roads during that storm. You would have been taking chances going out in a car that day from the looks of the weather reports.

And yet our immediate response was to blame the wrong party. My apologies to the truck driver who has to deal with the death of two people for which he probably feels responsible to some degree even though he is not.

The one I'll never forget is when some kid is his Dodge Neon was riding my bumper, he then decided to pass, I watched him zoom down the road for about a quarter mile or so, when OUT OF THE WOODS (where he was hidden like a stalking tiger) sprang a state cop! Who went like the proverbial bat-out-of-hell to catch the kid...... Needless to say I was laughing myself silly!

You know in such accidents it's always the fault of the one behind. So keep your distance, stupid cagers!! Unless the dude on the scooter did what a dude on a Goldwing did to me in Boston a few months back: made a right from the left lane in front of my work truck! (Note: said truck is a 33,000lb GVWR Freightliner 26' box truck!) I missed him by maybe ten feet.

most people in cars think all scooters are slow and they try to ride your tail or pass you, i drive in 30 mph zones and often have to go 45 to get cars off my ass, the couple was probably doing the same and lost control, more the reason a 50cc without some mods is dangerous, cars will pass or ride your ass if you go under 40 even in a 30 mph zone. Its a a 30 mph max speed for 49cc scooters in my state which i feel is unsafe and causes many accidents, cagers don't drive the speed limit usually 5 or more over. Even a 150cc scooter with 2 people on it will be turtle slow, even worse in bad weather or on a hill.

"Cullum said the truck was traveling behind the scooter when it went down in the snow, and the driver of the truck was not able to stop in time to avoid hitting the two riders."
Well now i doin't think we can put all or even most of the blame on the driver of the truck.
Snow + Scooter + 2 up = bad ideal

When all is said and done, it might end up being a choice they wished they hadn't made. This person minimizes the risk, and stands a better chance of seeing her family again. Some borrowed quotes.. "The best gunfight to survive is the one you avoid" "The best example of good training is to never get in a fight." "The Only 'Fair Fights' are the ones that you walk away from !" JMHO
