peugeot speedfight problem 50cc

hey guys my name is andrew and am new to this and am having a problem with my 50cc peugeot speedfight i hope you guys can help me with this

My scooter starts up fine but then when i accelarate it bogs down if its bellow full throttle some times its fine some times it bogs and somes times and full throttle it dont bog. I think its a problem with my air box my air box is missing the air box cover as i seem to of lost it am not sure if thats the problem the carb is clean because the covers missing you can just see the air filter foam. Is the problem that the engine is getting to much air and the jets too small because now its basically a open air filter do i need to order a new standard cover which i was gonna do i just wanted to know if this was the problem and should i stop riding it till i buy a new cover

You probably should stop riding it until you get a new cover, the outside cover help keep the filter media compressed against the air hole.

I took off the airbox cover just to play around and it bogged so bad I did not leave the driveway . With the cover off your getting in way more air and running much leaner than with the cover on it . Replace the cover or upjet a few sizes
