Purchase your TaoTao from an online site like provenpowersports.com or a similar site, it's 80% assembled anywhere between $600-800 for a decent 50cc, not a bad deal. Thats what I did last October and my Cy50-B works great and I do not regret my purchase Still use it every day!

i ride my 2012 power max 150 every day with 1200 miles on it and i have had only very minor problems. I will buy another one.. Just do your pdi and check over your scooter often and it will last

No complaints here. Bought a brand new one locally for 700 cash out the door and was riding the same day the idea to buy a scooter popped into my head. Sure, some things need to be tweaked and you better keep up with the maintenance and PDI but they're an awesome first scooter. I'm even more impressed with the one I'm riding now b/c it's like an '08 or '09 and after BBK it's been mostly problem free for a total investment of $200.

But I could tell the dealer I bought it from did a pretty darn good PDI, I had below average initial frustration from what I'm gathering. I just walked in, she connected a battery and threw a tab of fuel in and I was outta there with a running scooter from mile 1 within 15 minutes. Still see the kid I sold it to with over 5k KM in like 6 or 7 months since brand new. Now I know I love scooters and I am ready to invest in a quality and capable machine.

Mine too. Superior Power Sports did generally a good PDI on both of my bikes. All except the BMS TBX 260; which is quite a complex bike to begin with. I now rather have it simple and cheap, rather than complex and difficult.
Yamaha's motto "Less is more" applies here for me.
